Aside from the rest of the critics and fans of other martial art actors out there, i believe Steven Seagal is the best martial arts actor and film maker of all time. His scripts and dialogues and theatrical talents back up and put the "UMPH!" into movies today of which no other actor can measure up to nor match.
My favorite was Marked for Death. Great fight choreography in that one.

Marked for death was uber sick. He used to be on some isht. Although there was a newer one where he had to fight a pretty good Asian guy. Its like the only movie in which Segal had been hit .
I still think Van Damme's the best. Bruce might have been if he wasnt so old. His movies just really dont do much for me anymore. Theyre outdated pure and simple.

Even the best of men are capable of the most disgusting evil. Just as the most evil man is capable of showing kindness.
Do not be fooled into thinking your enemy's sin is worse than yours, or that your's is better than his.
Noticing how Sensei Seagal can evade and deflect punches and kicks, Sensei Steven Seagal could effortlessly defeat chuck norris, jean claud vandamme, and all other actors on screen and in real life. Nobody beats Sensei Steven Seagal on film nor in the kitchen!
Take it for what it's worth. I heard it from another source so it's not my personal account of the situation.
A while ago, Steven Seagal on movie set was choked out by another martial artist, twice, when he was challenged. When he woke up, he fired him from the set.
Don't believe everything you see on screen. It can make anybody look good.

I've heard this rumor too. As the rumor goes Seagal's ego was getting the better of him and he challenged one of the worker's on the set. The worker choked him out not once, but twice.
I hate to break it to the op, but the movies aren't a good way to judge a person's martial ability. Movies are MAKE BELIEVE.

that was "judo" Gene Lebell who choked out Seagal. he said in an interview cause Seagal would sometimes be an A-hole
on the movie set an go a little too hard on his screen opponents. its not really broadcasted out there too much because Gene Lebell doesnt want to deal with any potential court issues with Seagal and the drama thing

Steven Seagal is reputed to be one of the biggest douche bags in the entire MA world. He's got a reputation, as some have mentioned, for trying to pick fights with people on the set. That's how he got choked the f out by Gene LaBell. I mean, how do you make Martial Arts your career choice and not know who "Judo" Gene LaBell is? The guy is one of the ugliest people in the world, it's not like you wouldn't recognize him if you knew who we was!
The best "movie" martial arts guy is easily Chuck Norris. The guy was a kickboxing champion many times over and he has a black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under the Machado Brothers? That's ridiculous.

Shoot hoss, that's all these old and new actors such as jeanclaude and chuck and any other you care to mention can bring onto films are kicks, punches, and rediculous scripts and stories. I admire all these kickboxing actors like jean and chuck, but they are simply just that 'kickboxers' with no acting skills. Plus, they've never done any bodyguard work nor been security for powerful persons in the world. But Steven Seagal has done all of their kicks and and punches and much much more on film than these B kickboxing actors you speak of.
