Many moons ago at a rank testing, I was going up for green belt and used a spinning backfist on a brown belt during the full-contact sparring portion of the test. The next week when we were given the results, Takashima Sensei called me up in front of the class and awarded me a purple belt instead of green. He asked me where I had learned the spinning backfist technique, and I told him I saw Chuck Norris do it in a movie and it looked like it would work well for me, so I began practiciing it on my own. I thought he would be angry, but he replied, "Good, good. You learn. Take whatever work in fight and use. Good technique."

our grading panels are really hard on people who don't attack properly who just give their arm and say "throw me" , its often the case people are failed for not punching fast enough or not commiting to a punch.

My mate does Jitsu with the Jitsu foundation and he got two teeth chipped at a grading one after the other on two consecutive days, he was pissed off.

POed from the chipped teeth, or not being able to not do better in order not to get them chipped?

Well he was pissed off the first time because he didn't throw the bloke in time, and was angry with himself for not doing better, and he was angry the second time because he was supposed to be the attacker and the one doing the punch but the person facing him got confused and punched him instead.

"Use your hip": his favourite saying, gets mad annoying near the end of a week-long training camp though

"No robot, be human being": wado emphasizes relaxed movements with minimal tension, and this refers to students who tense up excessively
