Martial Arts GamesDiscuss your favorite martial arts games here
Thanks. I guessed correctly. BTW, I heard PS3 was released for sale today. Many people waited in line for a couple of days outside the store so they can buy the game unit. Pretty insane....
I'll probably wait a year or two when the price comes down. I'm more interested in the Blue-Ray playing capability than playing games itself.
Don't even think about getting one this year unless you want to pay a huge premium. I'm sure many of those guys who bought the first ones will put it out for sale on eBay and some rich dads will pay anything to give it to their kids for Christmas. Just wait.
If I mention my favorite martial arts game of all time I'll have to say Mortal Kombat series. There are other games that come into play as well. For instance, Street Fighter was one of the first games that change the genres of video games. It helped create a window for more martial based games today. If you've noticed lately. More and more video games that are coming out are based on fighting. Some type of martial art is confined in these games. Besides, first person shooters more and more games are based off of martial arts. Devil May Cry series has Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and styles of the ancient samurai's placed into the video game. Another example is the Onimusha series. All of the facts of that game are based off of ancient warlords and villians of the early 12th century. That style of playing is based off of Hapkido and other ancient samurai tactics. Think about that.
Imagination was clearly played in a lot of the early NES games. Take Street Fighter for example, the power moves mixed with the spinning kicks and outrageous punches was clearly something special when games of that genre starting to entertain many people especially young kids. That game brought martial arts up a spot.
I'll have to agree with GoruFreak. When Mortal Kombat stepped into the gaming industry they were the same as everyone else. With the advancement of combinations of buttons put together to create an effect that would WOW the gamer. It bought video games based off of fighting above all others. Now days you won't even find a game that doesn't have a certain type of button combinations to create combos of some sort. All fighting video games have it and all will.
