Home Country: | your worst MA injury? what is your worst MA injury?
mine = broken collar bone. not serious, but the doctors did not set it right so it took forever to heal. |

My worst MA injury would have to be fractured hand...
I've had pulled hamstrings, which I still worked through during belt testing.
I've had sprained ankles, which I still worked through tournament fighting.
But, a fractured hand which occured during board breaking (I was dumb enough to punch it instead of palm striking). It had me out of commission for quite sometime while it healed. |

Home Country: | thanks!
ouch! were you still a junior belt and you were just trying to prove something, or did you just under estimate how hard it would be?
i have been told that it is better to break something than sprain it because sprainning weekens the area whereas a break will heal back stronger. i don't know if that is true. |

Home Country: | I was quite advanced at the time but... it happens.
We were doing board break-a-thon for fund raising for our martial arts club, where we would break certain number of boards before live audience, and get sponsors to sponsor us for $ for each boards.
I was going for the record number (7, I think) and I failed few times with palm strike. My palm was hurting so much that I just couldn't continue, so I decided to try punching it. I ended up breaking 5 middle boards (remember Dim Mak from Bloodsports?) but not the two outer ones. Anyway, I only found out that I fractured my hand because the swelling didn't go down for few days and had to get an x-ray. It's fine now. I don't know if it's stronger than before the fracture. |

Home Country: | yeah that sucks Goju, i screwed up my groin muscle too once. during assisted stretching i was pushed much to far hard and fast, heard some sounds that my muscles shouldn't be making. it took years for me to heal completely. i thought that i might never heal. i have lost some flexability due to the injury, but at least the pain has stopped. |

Home Country: | Jeez, I don't know, I think you guys need to be more careful. Working so hard that you tear something has a detrimental effect on your training.
That being said someone took me down too close to a wall once. It wouldn't have been so bad except for the fact that the wall had a mirror on it. Luckily I didn't get cut up too bad as the major chunks of the mirror stayed in the frame, but I have a nice scar on my forearm to remind me of one of the smaller pieces that got loose. Also, I didn't have to pay for the mirror |

I still have not regained all my flexability in that leg yet and I am still gun shy about doing a jump back leg round kick which is what I tore it on, other than that good as new. |

But i also have an appointment to get an xray just to rule out bone/lig damgage. So i hope everything goes well, i have gradings to goto on the weekend. So hope everything goes well...

Home Country: | my worst injury happens to be what happened to me today lol
we got done doing our test for army combatives level 1 qualification.
then the instructors came out with our certificates an said
"well soldiers.....theres one more task to do, then you will be awarded your certificates...you have to roll, and make your opponent submit, if not then u go back in line an roll again"
and we were already tired an beat to hell from the training and pt sessions
so i rolled with this rok soldier an he got me in an armbar. nothing too too bad.....but my shoulder's very sore and arm feels like its gonna fall off.
maybe i shouldve just tapped out an not be a stubborn bastard and fight it

Home Country: | I've been lucky enough not to encounter a serious injury in training or competition but have seen many! I tend to get annoying minor injuries - pulled hamstrings etc. I did get an injury i thought was quite serious when we were practising "special technique", which is basically flying kicks. As i landed on a concrete floor knee first which actually meant i couldnt get up and walk for about ten minutes due to the pain. I just let nature do its course rather than a doctor and it healed in a couple of weeks! Other injuries have included split lips from being punched in the face in competition and over-doing knuckle conditioning and damaging the bone too much. I just hope i am not tempting fate by saying i've had no serious injuries! |
