Of course. In meditation, one not only gets the chance to relax, but the chance to contemplate. He may philosophize, remind himself of his goals, consider their achievement and even edit them if he sees fit.
So, we have meditation, in relation to the mind. Thus one has to focus and concentrate.
We have pain, a physical sensation that stimulates the mind.
Therefore, if one already has a low tolerance of pain, it would be very difficult for them to train their mind, per even mediatation to control or ease.
Simply, if you can't take a hit it, or endure pain per focus, how could one apply the mentality or mind for meditation?

One can tell himself he can handle it. He can encourage himself.
