Martial Arts InjuriesDiscuss how to deal with martial arts injuries and illnesses here
Ok guys I need help if you can ripped a mucel and need to train an sword demo and tournament dose any one know a good thing to help with this it is in the leg and sword moves takes a lot of leg movments need help guys .
Have you gotten any medical advice on this? Ripped muscle is a serious injury. I don't know how important this demo is but this type of injury is not something you work through pain.
I've had sprained ankles and bruised muscles that I've endured but ripped muscle sounds like you should really check with a doctor to make sure you don't damage it further.
I remember having to test for my next belt when I had a pulled hamspring. I couldn't throw any kicks without flinching.
I told my instructor before the testing that I just wanted him to know I had a pulled hamspring, but he just asked me "So, what do you want me to do about it?"
I knew I had no sympathy so I just had to suck it up and do my best. I ended up getting a very high score anyway.
If it's something of a tolerable pain, I would say suck it up. But as complete said, if it's a serious injury, it's better to avoid anything that can make it worse.

Have a doctor check it out and tell you what you are up against if you go through with the demo and tournament. Then make your decision based on his recommendation.
IMO, there will be other demos and tournaments only if you are well enough to continue practicing the martial arts. Take care of yourself, and good luck in your decision.
i agree with the others, if its not serious, just toughen it out, if it is, you'll just have to say no to the demo. A skipped sword demo is better than a worse injury. One time, during tournament, my knee was kicked out of place. I didn't do anything about it even though it hurt. About two weeks later it actually ended up being kicked back in place in class, lol, saved myself a medical bill
wow, thats a very lucky story,i wish i had your luck. at camp i once only sprained my ankle at practice, but it was a camp on a giant hill and the nurse didnt give me a crutch or anything, i had to suck up te pain and try to walk on my sprained a nkle up and down a hill. it healed pretty fast, but it would have healed faster if i had crutches/didnt walk on it.

Never had a ripped muscle. Usually, I'd go to a doctor if the painfactor was a 9 or 10. On a scale 1 to 10... how is your pain? example... I cracked a rib and I gave it a 9, I get a busted nose it's a 1.

Well technically to get bigger muscles you rip them so they grow back bigger..thats why they hurt after lifting. You want to be sure it isn't a herniated muscle where the muscle penetrates through the muscular tissue (like the insides of a hot dog bursting out the sides) they can fix that with a patch something similar to chicken wire.

If it is a ripped muscle then you need to get it checked out or you risk damaging it permanently. Sprains and bruises you can work thru, most tears you cant, I did test for 1st Dan with a torn Hip Flexor but I had the assurance from the Doctor I would not do anymore damage only delay my recovery. If you are determined to work thru it then wrap it tight, heat it before you work out and ice it afterwords and take plenty of Ibuprofen. Good Luck!
Yeah, you rip your muscle when you work out, thats why people usually say if you lift weights you should only do it every other day, the extra day is to let it heal and come back bigger/stronger
