Martial Arts InjuriesDiscuss how to deal with martial arts injuries and illnesses here
Happened today in class. One kid was picking his nose as the other kid kicked and accidentally connected with his elbow shoving is arm upwards. The kid got a nose bleed which lasted all of 5 seconds but nothing was broken. It was a good thing that they weren't really going at it, the injured party might have accidentally poked himself in the brain.
Long time ago, bruising my lower back by falling over when I was demonstrating myself trying to open a door. Did it right in front of a girl I really liked as well. To her it must have looked like I did a scissor kick (even though I knew no martial arts at the time), and landed on my back.
But in martial arts, got really bad carpet burn (really really bad) trying to sweep someone.

lol nice thread. I once had a whole threw my tongue when i was little after having a bit of toy railway track in my mouth and falling on it. Cained at the time but now i look back and laugh. In MA however probably when i was trying to do a really good jumping front kick and kneed myself in the head. I was whitebelt though.

Got a slang question for you Rodders. What the deuce does "Cained" mean in this context? I recognize it as the name of the biblical figure, but have no idea what it means here.
Chapel's beats out anything I can come up with. Most of the "funny" injuries I can come up with are near-misses to the family jewels when shinai fighting without protection.

no it just means it incredibly hurt. Like really hurt. Not really an injury but back in my puberty days we shouting on the kicks and it was all quiet, i shouted and my voice went mega high pitched. Every one looked i was soooo imbaressed.
Yeah, caned probably comes from the fact that hitting school children across the knuckles or arse with a bamboo or rattan cane was a common form of corporal punishment in schools across Great Britain.

Despite all the dangerous and risky things I have done, the only major injury I have had was from falling over a shoe and breaking my arm. I was only 8 but damn is that shamefull...
