Martial Arts InjuriesDiscuss how to deal with martial arts injuries and illnesses here
Just a sprained thumb and a very badly sprained toe. Thumb's all good, but the toe hasn't been the same since, sometimes it still hurts as badly as the day I did it.
I think (touch wood) so far I've got off quite lightly.

my inner tendon on the inside of my hip, side abs, wings, and neck got sore for days after too much 540 practice.
my right leg hurts and pops at the hip if i don't stretch when i excecute a side kick

Since I cant have you understand the Shaolin hype, you need to refrain from putting to much strain on those and certain areas.
"If" you do go and practice Wu Shu,
(which is what they are really teaching playing it off as Shaolin because someone found a old text and taught sone gestures from this small book-which anyone can posess)
You need to be in top form or else you wont achieve IMHO

yes, i understand that because my step dad (ex-military) told me that also since i am still growing and all that. so i guess i am gonna work more on my muay thai, and JKD philosopies.
until then, if i do go to shaolin, I am gonna study Wing Chun if i can find a good school.

Please, I beg, dont take this as to offend. I am not going to patronize you on this matter.
Sorry-please dont misunderstand, before going there, you have to know details of what you are searching for, otherwise your'e going to get ripped off.
I am not trying to belittle/bash you quest, but have you come to a better understanding of the many con people are there.
Shaolin, those schools over there that say they teach it, never teach Wing Chun.
Wing Chun is best found in the outey areas such as Hong Kong, Malaysesia, Singapore, and especially Maccu.

Do your "homework and do some thorough research".
Why do you want to learn it?
Why do they named it so?
What is it that they are really teaching
Research the name of the teacher.
oh no i am saying that i am studying wing chun here in my state until i go to shaolin if i go now.
right now i am looking for something that can help me defend myself, and something that is useful for the streets, and also to improove myself as a better fighter.
so the answer to those are wing chun, Krav Maga, or Muay thai.
I actually know some great places here in the states that are good schools to go to for those arts. actually through some research i did last night, and today i found that since i want to be legendary and undefeated in my future, I would find it in my best interest to find an art that is simple and direct with lots of power and speed. so i am now deciding on either wing chun or sumthing of that nature. I really want to go to shaolin because i want to experience something new, and also even though it doesn't help me in actual combat as much, i'd like to learn the style. I understand where you are coming from though, about the rip offs and scams, and i see now that i am going to have to be more cautious about things like that. Actually if i want to learn something like shaolin, or Wushu then I might as well go learn from WU Bin. but i am just really interested in those arts, but i am a big fan of the chinese martial arts most of all.
I am going to take your word for it and be more cautious about the reputation of the school, the masters that teach, and the cost of course.
One thing also is that i appreciate your care, because i hate getting scammed just as much as the next guy.

When he punched me in the face he was just playing around and got too close too me. He didn't punch me as hard as he could but he still punched with some force.
Then when he kicked my arm i was holding a pad for him to kick, part of my arm wasn't protected and when he kicked (Roundhouse) his knee collided full force with the side of my elbow and i stayed up for a second but the pain was really bad so i just went to the ground rather than try and stay up. It felt better afterwards for a minute but then came the feeling of broken glass.
My teacher wasn't worried, he said it would be fine and gave me an ice pack. Then i spent the rest of the lesson on a chair, but it could have been worse.
