Martial Arts InjuriesDiscuss how to deal with martial arts injuries and illnesses here
So if you kick an elbow and your foot doesnt swell but is seriously painful, its safe to assume nothing is broken right?
Are any of your toes (or the joint just under your toes) swollen?? I ask because I've had my toes broken a few times, from elbow blocks but usually my whole foot doesn't swell.
Typically if there is no swelling, it's probably just bruised.
Your sparring partners must not were elbow pads.
His pads were under his uniform I couldnt tell if they were over the elbows or not. It was def my fault for not aiming at the hogu(sp?). I tend to just throw kicks with no aim every now and then.
I kicked an elbow last week a few times both feet, and there was considerable swelling but I could walk no problem.
Now I kicked an elbow once this week and there is no swelling but it hurts waaaay more, I could barely walk on it this morn. Possibly since it was an aggravation of an earlier injury??
Broken toes will def be in my future if I keep using the front kick .

If your toes were swollen last week and hurt this much now, chances are they are broken (fractured) You should Definitely wrap them EVERY time you spar!! (funny it hurts when you get the block, but for some reason, the pain doesn't really start until afterwards.. lol Adrenalin I'm sure )
the nerves that move the toes are there, and they can get some damage out of an elbow, they hurt a lot, the inflammation of a nerve is a painful thing, hope you feel better now.
Yeah, I'm all good. I'm ready to get this week's training started . I've been hurt the last 2 weeks and that sucked. Worst part by far was testing on a swollen knee, my rolls looked like crap. All I kept hearing was, " C'mon guys stick the landings!"
Damnit Sensei Hakutoshi! Just kidding!
