Doing a little poll here. What do you think is the best martial arts movie ever? If you don't see your favorite, let me know so I can add it.

Bruce Lee is still my favorite action star and "Enter the Dragon" is one of the best martial arts film ever made. However, that was in the 70's and there are many new movies that comes pretty close. I would have to say Jet Li's "Once Upon a time in China" should be all time best.

Yeah, but none of these movies won any awards except Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Dear guest,
We are not talking about which movie won the most awards but which is the viewer's favorite - in terms of what they liked the most about the movie, whether it's action, story, director, cast, etc.

I don't have the best ever movie, but here's my list of the best ever MA movies:

Note:
1) the list does not contain places, since all the movies in it are on the 1st place for me
2) here are only the movies that I enjoyed the most, there are several more but this list is about the absolute best!

THE LIST:
=========
- Way of The Dragon (Bruce Lee)
- Fist of Fury (Bruce Lee)
- Enter the Dragon (Bruce Lee)
- Big Boss (Bruce Lee)
- Drunken Master 2 (aka Legend of the Drunken Master - Jackie Chan)
- The Tai Chi Master (aka Twin Warriors - Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh)
- Once Upon a Time in China (1,2,3 - Jet Li)
- Prodigal Son (Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao)
- Iron Monkey (Donnie Yen)
- Sanjuro (d: Kurosawa, c: Toshiro Mifune)
- Yojimbo (d: Kurosawa, c: Toshiro Mifune)
- Kung Fu Hustle (aka: Gung Fu - Stephen Chow)
- Ong Bak (for the realism of the fighting scenes - Tony Jaa)
- Hero (2002 version) (Jet Li)
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Chow Yun Fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi)
- House of the Flying Daggers (Zhang Ziyi...)
- Kill Bill (1,2)
- Dragons Forever (Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao)

So, that's my contribution and I hope it will help somebody...

Best Regards to all of you,
jaws

I've seen all of them and most of them are definitely in the Top 20 of all times. Two disagreements I would have are

- Sanjuro (d: Kurosawa, c: Toshiro Mifune)
- Yojimbo (d: Kurosawa, c: Toshiro Mifune)

And definite NO for Kung Fu Hustle. It belongs in Comedy, not Martial Arts Movie section.

You listed Bruce Lee's movies as your top 4.

My order for those 4 would be
1. Enter the Dragon
2. Fist of Fury
3. Way of the Dragon
4. Big Boss

Enter The Dragon up here too, it's just a great movie.

On a sidenote: it's Mortal Kombat (with a K)
