That's a terrible idea for a movie!!!! The Karate Kid was good, leave it that way. I'm not very happy with all this remakes things they are comming with. Will Smith's Son is NOT a good choice for the Karate Kid, there's a million of teenager kids who could play that role better, he's consider just because daddy Will is the producer and wants to see his little kid kicking butt on screen. Jackie Chan as Mr.Miyagi will look ridiculous.
I heard Michael Jai White was trying to make a "Black Belt Jones" remake, that's an idea that makes more sense to me since Mr.White is very good M.A.
Yeah, I saw every one, and the first is the only good one. The other ones try to come up with a cool move at the climax like the crane kick in the first one. Did you know that Pat Morita and the guy who played the Karate kid had never had MA training before the Movie?
oh man no! The Karate Kid was a good movie and had a message. I like some of the other Karate kid movies but this one...I have nothing against Will Smith or his son in fact I like them but they know NOTHING about the martial arts. If the kid could be given some martial arts to make it look like he knows some well then it might be watchable and I highly stress the might.

I don't much care for the idea of a Karate Kid remake, but I didn't care for the sequels either. However, saying Will Smith's son isn't a good choice because the kid doesn't do martial arts isn't valid, in my opinion. No one in the original did martial arts and how many movies do you see that have martial arts in them that do NOT have martial artist? The best reason for him to be in a movie or not is whether he can act.
I think perhaps the target audiance is going to be a bit younger and that is why they are using a younger 'hero.' Look at it this way, its free publicity for karate studios

I believe you are right, WC. I think the greatest thing about the original Karate Kid was the fact that it put martial arts in a positive light to a new audience. It actually incorporated some of the philosophies on the arts and didn't just rely on exagerated fight scenes.

well about the sequels, the only one i hated was the one with ms Swank.
the whole story was annoying like watching a sweet 16 episode where the girl is always complaining and whining. i just did not like it at all and its not because im sexist ha ha im only sexist when the movie is good and its a female lead role..............

Have to agree with you, LD. The Next Karate Kid with Hillary Swank totally sucked. However, Karate Kid III came in as a close second on the stink-o-meter.

Yeah, Miyagi won't train him so he can defend his title at the All-Valley Karate Championships, so he goes and trains under a buddy of Creed (the Kobra Kai sensei). Totally lame plot.
