Running on sand is always an interesting experience. Makes you feel like your legs are going to fall off. I was always into training above and beyond running, never felt like I got anything out of running.
Same here, although I think that adding something to running, such as running on sand, running through ankle-deep water, or running through a forest are useful. Two of them aid in strength, speed, stamina, and balance, and the last offers chances to react to swiftly approaching objects.

I think personally that you get a better if not same workout if you jumprope.
you are running, then you can slow the pace down, or speed it up, but if you are jumproping you can't do that as much as you can if you run

I know that Bruce Lee said that but I don't want anyone to smash my bones. Bruce also said that running was the 'king of exercises'. My longest run was a half marathon. My best time in a 10K was 39:56. The best way to run is to compete against someone who is just a little bit better than you are. It pushes you to your limit. Intervals are also good for fighters. Intervals are running sprints for 2 or 3 hundred yards while you are running about 5 miles. Run for the mind and meditate for the body.
