Poi

Does anyone here use poi? It's not so much a training excersize as an art. Poi are amazing to watch, spinning circles and spirals around, over and below the spinner.

Poi are basically two weighted balls (they don't have to be very heavy at all though) attached to ropes held on to by two fingers. What you do is you spin them around yourself to make amazing patterns that make you wonder how theyre possibly done.
The reason i put this in the training and excersize is because it's an amazing workout for your upper body. An estimation would be that after about 3 weeks of using them my arms became 150% their size (as in 50% increase for those who think it's not possible).

Poi can be made with lights in the balls, making amazing patterns that get better the darker it is. The best poi practitioners can get special poi to light on fire and spin that way, which is an amazing site to see.

Here are some websites and pictures:

I've seen people doing this at concerts and festivals. Interesting and beautiful.

It looks quite fun and entertaining!! I have seen people performing this, and I would agree it looks to be a very good upper body workout!

Here I thought Poi was just a traditional Hawaiian dish you ate with your fingers

yeah it's an amazing art that seems more natural than others, probably from the flow of it. I was hoping at least one other person would have done it before lol .

At first I thought this was going to be about Hawaiian/Polynesian food.
