Last nights workout...

I figure we have a rather healthy community. Meaning that we have a lot of people check this site atleast everyday, even if they dont intend to post.

So with that in mind I was thinking that we could start sharing any interesting moments from your previous days training.

So yesterday was my first day doing JuTaijutsu in a while, its essentially BJJ but we call it that because well we just do. *EDIT* I'm pretty sure we dont call it BJJ because we dont pass out belts or anything. Its just more training to be a complete fighter. Anyway I was rolling with one of our blackbelts, he's about 220 and 35 yo. He's one of the best submission guys in our dojo. He was so deliberate and calm no matter what, he was even talking to me and making sure I was working even if I thought I had no chance.

Anybody ever heard of a move called the cheese burger, we went over that in the technique part of class. Some arm bars from knee mounts and I think an olonplata (sp?) from a side mount.

The 90 minutes went by so fast but it was fun to get back on the ground and try to shore up my most glaring weakness.

So what about you, how'd your training or instruction go on 6-9-08?

Jutaijutsu (柔体術, Jutaijutsu?) is a common martial art term in ninjutsu ("junaan", in fact, means "flexible", while "tai" means "body" and "jutsu" means "art" or "skill"). It has nothing to do with bjj and from the sounds of it, it isn't closely related.

aranhaomoplata3.jpg

Is this the move you were talking about? If so it's called an omoplata and I'd be interested in seeing your set up from s-mount/cross body position. If you have any video please provide. Thanks.

Maybe it's just grappling with a fancy name?

Well I was just trying to explain it the easiest way possible. And since BJJ is the only martial art that I know of that references guards, half guards, body triangles and all that jazz I said BJJ. Also the guys that teach it are some belt in BJJ so I am pretty sure they are teaching from what they were taught. BJJ is actually really popular in this area. That and Muay Thai are really the only things people respect. Sounds funny doesnt it? Doesnt even sound like I'm talking about a college town like Chapel Hill, does it?

Tues training... Executed a horrible ukemi from a standing arm bar and seperated my shoulder. Mildest form of an AC sprain so I gotta wear a sling for a few weeks. Looks like I'm gonna be doing lots of cardio. New mission...shed some body fat.

Yesterday, We sparred two against one. For a variation the attckers used just front kicks na dthe defenders could defend and counter with anything. I always think one against many is some of the best training possible.

Forgot I made this thread.

Went to TKD and just held my gi with my right hand and did everything I could that didnt jar me too much.

Really wasnt a good workout but it would have been a light class even if I used both arms.

And triangle that was the move. I couldnt really explain the setup as I only got to do it that one day in class. The "cheeseburger" was kind of cool too though.

omoplata is for sure one of my faves I use it as a sweep a lot because some times it's hard to finish. I still don't know what the cheeseburger is could just be a different name for something else. I know what the chili dog is.

Yesterday it was so nice out, that we took two 10x10 wrestling mats out to Wahahla beach and rolled on the beach of Lake Michigan with the city sky line as a backdrop it was pretty f'n amazing.

I remember being in a funky side mount type of thing much like your picture. And we would do the omoplata if the guy went one way and the cheeseburger if he went the other way. Then you had to yell "Do you like it well done?!?" while you crank their spine. It was rather funny.

I'll look for a pic somewhere on the web when I get a chance.

That wasnt it. We had a leg and the head and essentially smothered the face and cranked the spine.
