Martial Arts Training & ExercisesDiscuss martial arts training and exercises here
During my boxing days, I would do situps with my arms crossed and touch opposite elbow to opposite knee. I would do about 100 of those per day. Then, it was crunches the same way, but on a crunch, you only go half way up. I would start at 10, and then back down from 10 again. I would do about 3 sets of those, 10 up 10 down is one set. Then it was turns with the medicine ball. While sitting, hold the ball, and turn and give it to your partner behind you, turn to the other side so they can give it back. Mmmmmm Awesome workouts....Then there was the jumping rope...and the running and sprints. Man....Good times....Now I do about half the workout....LOL
ok. im pretty skinny so i dont think i have to worry that.
A 6-pack really appears around some lowish body fat percent. If you are skinny, it might be a better idea health wise and athletic wise just to build up muscle all around instead of worrying about a single group of muscles.

More to this point...Men typically show their abs around 10% body fat, while women generally show around 18%.
Cardio is much more important than ab exercises with diet being more important than either.

I'll Still Kill!
Even the best of men are capable of the most disgusting evil. Just as the most evil man will show someone in their life kindness.
Do not be fooled into thinking your enemy's sin is worse than yours, or that your's is better than his.

^LOL I was challenged once by my instructor with one of those things...He told me to bend over and hold on to that things handles....Then roll it out without bending my knees until I was almost horizontal, and then back....I did it for the most part....I was ALMOST horizontal...but my back muscles are just not large enough and I didn't get horizontal. The way back up was alright though...Tough...He didn't think I would do it as well as I did either.
I agree with complete that you cant ignore your diet when training for a six pack. That and cardio will shed the fat to reveal the muscle.
I wrote an article about performing stomach excerises whilst lying on a heavy bag. Here it is,
I hope everyone knows by now, that if you want a six pack, you must watch your diet, reduce calories to reveal muscle under your fat layers (if any), and do some stomach exercises to develop your abdominal muscles. With regards to the diet, sorry but its a slow and mind blowing process where you eat tasteless foods half the time and try to resist the tasteful ones. With regards to the exercises, there aren't many you have to do. Just five or six will do. 20 reps each, 3 sets per exercise and your well on your way. But one way in which the muscle will be developed more quickly and so will surrounding muscles of the abdominals is by training whilst lying on a heavy punch bag. Nearly every gym in the world has them so finding one shouldn't be a problem. The idea is, when you perform your exercises lying on the bag, because its round, you will have to balance yourself to quite an extent so as it does not slide away from under you. By training this way you will notice that it will be much harder to do your exercises and you will be performing them much stricter so as you don't fall, forcing your abdominals to work harder. The basic crunch will become a workout that works more than just your upper abdominals as a slight twist in your arm or training to fast will throw you completely off balance. Reverse sit ups (lying on the bag and bringing your knees to your chest, and down again) are the worst for me. My balance goes everywhere with this one. It takes time to learn the balance required to train like this but it is extremely beneficial. Obviously you need a bag which is big enough for you to lie on but as I said, a lot of gyms have them, and if you train at a martial art school, it should definitely have one. For grapplers, the balance you can pick up by training on the bag like this is priceless. After a while, your groundwork will be much smoother, and you will be finding it easier to maneuver whilst lying on your back.

I have heard it called an 'ab roller'. In reality, you can use pretty much any regular chair with wheels to get a similar work out. So no need to pay 4 easy payments of 29.95 plus s/h to get those rock hard abs in only 15 minutes a day.

A dumbbell could do. How does that thing work for you?

Dude, a wheel costs like $10 at Target. It is easily the cheapest, most efficient exercise equipment you can get and will get you better results than most other core exercises.
And no, a chair with wheels is not going to do the same thing! LOL!!

Go buy one, costs next to nothing, and do 4 sets of 20 then report back.

I don't have a Target. I think they seem cheap, but I can't be bothered.
