Seems really interesting. But, for me to watch it in History Channel latinamerica, it will take sometime, they have to make the spanish translations and all that. To heck with the waiting for spanish version, i'll watch it over the internet. lol
The kumite match at the end was good though. The karateka (sp?) was unphased by the big guys punches and his leg kicks were seriously hurting the big bruiser.
Sidenote...The MT guy was taking it soooo easy. He probably wasnt going 50%. That was a joke of a match. Atleast if they put the big guy in there he could have unleashed a little bit. He could embarass them both, I doubt either of them could have proven that human weapon ineffective. But thats just my opinion. Anyone else see the two episodes I'm talking about?

I do agree that they could have picked better hosts, but take it from a non-MA aspect its a good informative show that isn't boring. Although I can see why martial artists would find the show over dramatized. (It's better than Fight Science.)
Leisure may not be an option for this indefatigable human instrument of martial arts. It is the Tao, sort to speak passably, that he his set on such credenda, to which he may not abdicate. It is the WAY, the Do, of what certitude he has.
Absolutely, drallig. I was kind of dissapointed with the fight at the end of that episode. Especially after seeing those few highlights of the MT fighter in action. It actually seemed like the American was psyched out before the fight ever took place.
And, I agree, the karate match is much better. But so was the fight at the end of the episode on pankration.
Yeah I think so too. It seems that the producers or whoever forgot that these were grown men in the first episode, they can take whatever is coming to them. They may not be able to give it, but they can take it.

I'm just hoping that they go ahead and continue the show with a second season. There are so many more martial arts styles that could be covered, and it seems to be a very positive vehicle for getting information on the arts to the public. After all, they do always look at various different branches of each style and cover the histories and philosophies. I would love to see an episode on sambo.
Muay Thai in Thailand is like football in the States. On the two occasions that I visited Thailand while in the navy, I went to more than a few bars where they actually had rings built into the center of the place with the bar around it. You could drink and watch the fights, so it was pretty cool. They even allowed challengers to come in from the crowd, and, if they won three matches, they would get a free bar tab. I saw several drunken Americans and Europeans get clobbered by wirey, little Thai fighters. Ahhh, the memories.
