I just recently started watching the World Combat League, and I must say I've become a fan. I had seen short clips of some of the matches before, and I had always thought that I'd rather spend my time watching the UFC. Now I'm not so sure. I compete in continuous fighting/kickboxing, and the techniques and strategies in WCL really fit into what I'm doing now.
My question is this:
Which do you prefer, the World Combat League or the Ultimate Fighting Championship? Why do you have a preference for either? Do you think they are equal and both have different things to offer?

I think they are a bit different. As much as I enjoy UFC, sometimes it has a lot to do with who's fighting than the pure techniques. And techniques used between the two are certainly different (e.g. no grappling/takedown in WCL)
I've seen clips of the WCL and it looked pretty good but since I don't know who the fighters are and their background, I didn't know who to cheer for or even anticipate a different match up.
In that sense, I think UFC has done a good job of promoting themselves and getting people hooked for the next match ups.

Obviously, for me, I am a much bigger fan of MMA than straight kickboxing. But at the same time, I enjoy all combat sports and will watch K-1, Boxing, anything. I would definitely watch WCL.

Good point about promotion, complete. Exactly the reason I had never watched a complete WCL show until recently.
Like I said, I really enjoy both, but I was watching the WCL with my cousin and she remarked at how she like it better than the UFC because there was more action. So I guess people who don't understand and appreciate grappling (which she doesn't) could be more attracted to the speed and activity of the kickboxing matches in the WCL.

I just finished watching a few clips... I found it to be relatively unexciting and with bad tactics...
i.e their hands kept dropping... all the time... I just couldn't understand how a half decent fighter didn't take advantage about that...
Fighting is like music, all it takes is great timing to be a good fighter.

Asking which organization is the best is almost like asking which style is the best...in a way. They all have their strong points as well as week points, and it depends on the person's preference of the fighting styles, format, etc.... being presented. Although some organizations are larger than others and have more money than others...it also depends on the quality of the fighters. Personally, I'd watch them all. As for which is the best uh...I don't know
