not likely you will, either. He is not well-known in the US, or on the mainstream. He is however well known in Gunangzhao, and among certain circles in Mo-Lum. There are many people who do not own schools, write articles, put out dvd's,head up huge organizations, but keep to themselves and are only looking to pass on their art to a select few..if any. They don't seek the limelight, nor do they have any desire for fame. Come to my neck of the woods, and I will show you some unique and facinating individuals, with skills that far surpass the "Big Names."
Well, I dont agree with someone having skill to be able to be seen on the "mainstream". In other words, I had two instructors that arent either.
However, if he is known inside of the US, someone other than yourself has knowledge of him.

Sifu David Rogers,_Rising Crane in the UK-his Sifu, or Si-Gung knows him very well. The late Chan Tai-San of Lama P'ai was well aquainted with him. Chow-Hung was also awarded with a plaque by the Chinese Gov't declaring him one of China's Living Treasures. (Chan Tai-San has the same honors as well.)It was written by one of China's greatest modern day calligraphers. I would assume Dai Seng Pek Kwa Grandmaster, Chan Sau-Chung knows him, as they were classmates. He also organized the largest lion dance in China,300 lion dancers.
So, he is well-known, but you need to know the people who know him. Like I said, different circles. You also need to realize, many of the biggest names in Chinese Martial Arts, that we all recognize, are only known to the people that read the magazines. You go outside of their fishbowl, and many of them are not seen with the same eyes.

If he was awarded a plaque from the chinese Government in high regard, surely there has to be media/nespaper, or something of coverage.

He has many trinkets, and cool objects-special certificates naming him as an official for the National Martioal Arts Assoc, or some **** like that, different scrolls, posters, certificates, cards, whathaveyou, but I would never ask him for something that he treasured. He was very proud of them. (Although the huge calligraphy scroll, he asked that the artist not put his name on it(but he did anyway) he figured it would be worth something to a collector, since the artist wasw so famous in China. Funny how certain things had value, yet others didn't.
My friends kinda brought us together. My one friend, who is disciple to this Lung Ying Sifu, told me about him. "Rik, ya gotta meet this guy, Dr. Chow! He does Hung-Ga and my Sifu says he's really good. You gotta hook up with him"
My Southern Mantis Sifu said,"Rik, if this guy wants to teach you, you would be stupid not to train with him. You spent your whole life studying Hung Kuen, and this guy is reputed to be very good."
My other friend, a well-known Shuai Jiao practitioner said he was going to train with him as well, but he was already traininig with this other Sifu in Tai Chi.
So it was Yuen Fun-destined-two men travel and share the same road. So Dr. Chao is my teacher and friend. He has two passions in life-Gung-Fu, and tea. He collects rare varieties of teas, and his home is decorated with tea sets, and swords. He seems to only know two words in English-"Good," and "AGAIN!"
I'm gonna kill the guy who taught him, "Again."
As far as some sort of proof of his qualifications? Well, I know he's good, and he has a good heart, and he is virtuous, so that's really all I'm concerned about. As far as proving it to anyone else? I don't actually care.

Well, I am not asking proof of his qualifications. All of these he has/cherish, can simply be photographed with him posing.
Or any photos of him.
I have some photos of my teachers.
Surely you have of yours?

He does not want his name and pic plastered all over the internet
Fair enough. Just as long as you realise that I am not challenguing you or his credentials. I enjoy seeing and/or reading about martial artists out there who are not plastered all over the internet for the sake of ego or merit.

i generally just strike(how hard depends on what im using ) alot with with various items, and on things. i also sometimes roll a baseball bat up and down them. Another good thing is to have a heavy bag and strike the bottom segment of it with ur shins
