Being asmatic, please seriously think about why you are doing this before you do it. I'm not saying don't do it, but just make sure before you put yourself in that ring and risk it. If you go all out the first round and don't knock out the guy you are boxing, then what? Unless you are training, you'll be wiped and still have at least 2 rounds to go. The chances of having an asma attack will increase if you gas yourself the first round too. If you are pretty confident you can end the match in the first round then it might work out for the best. Always a risk vs reward thing
I know its difficult when your body limits the things you want to do. I've struggled with that myself. Pushing those limits past what you or other people think you can accomplish is a great thing. Just be aware of the risk you take. If you do more damage to your lungs or your body then it'll be even harder to do the things you enjoy, like martial arts.
hey waht a coinsidence im a asthmatic too. dont worry there are lots of things he doent know about you. if your the better fighter then youll probabaly win. and make him fight your fight, and at your pace.
Basically stressing the ranges of the fight that put you in a position to use your best skills. If kicking is what you do best then keep at a distance. If punching is what you do best get close. If you love to counter attack then stay patient and dont let him rattle you. If love to attack relentlessy (my fave) be in constant motion looking for openings at every angle.

I'm not talking about TKD. I'm talking American Kickboxing, how can you apply TKD against them in a way they can't handle.
Being a kickboxer myself, I've got a bit to say about this.
Firstly, what's your grudge against me? Just kidding. I actually don't know much about the pro kickboxing rules; I simply train at th dojo with my sensei and some sempai. Personally, my worst nightmare in a fight is an opponent who: A) Knows what I'm going to do before I do it, Knows the weaknesses of the human body (such as the best places to strike) and C) Is able to overpower me. I hope that helped.

Now thats's good news, why? Because I'm usually excellent at reading my opponents movements, sometimes at the class I don't let them get their feet more than 3 feet off the ground. I can see which way they are moving way before they do. This might be a good fight after all.

I have faith in you, Hajilee. Remember not to get overconfident, though. Don't let your opponent get the right distance to kick, and make sure to avoid the elbows (kickboxers can deliver deadly elbow strikes). Distance yourself properly, calculate your opponent's techniques and hit 'em hard.

I will fight as hard as I can. It's my first sanctioned fight, I intend to make it an experience to remember. My opponent should be able to remember everything except the last 20 seconds of the round.

Last 20 seconds, huh? In a fight, that can seem like a long time. Know your own strengths and capitalize on them; don't waste time and energy thinking about your weaknesses. Don't disregard them, but don't dwell on them either.

Oh, and one last bit of advice that even black belt karateka can forget: Don't completely extend your arm when you punch. If you do and your opponent acknowledges the mistake, it's game over for your arm. It can snap like a twig if there isn't any elbow left there.

Oh, and if you're going to do any groundfighting, watch out for arm locks. Those are always what end it for me in sparring. The problem with sparring for me is that there are so many powerful and potentially deadly techniques I simply can't make use of. In a real fight, I go for the throat and end the conflict quickly and efficiently.
