After a lot of consideration, I ended up choosing Thailand for my studying abroad. I will be their for a year, and right now I'm doing an enormous amount of paperwork for it.
While in Thailand, I plan to learn the language as best I can, and be active in the community. I will no doubt find a place to do Muay Thai, and hopefully my host family will be martial artists as well. We'll see what happens. I don't know anything about internet or the like, so not sure if I'll be in contact for a while once I leave. If I get the chance, I'll give you all an update on how my experience is going and how my martial arts training is doing.
I won't be leaving until July or August, but I thought I'd let you all know anyways.
Good luck and have fun! I know you will learn a great deal there!

I've been to Thailand, and most places near big cities are covered with wireless internet. Also, there are a lot of PC rooms (V. popular in Asia) all over Thailand, where you could do your posting if your hosts don't have internet.
Good Luck!
/I should come down and fight you:P/

Hope you have a great time. I too have been to Thailand several times, and it is an absolutely beautiful country. The people are very friendly as well. You should have no problem finding a place to get online and keep in touch.

That's what I heard. I heard that the people there are very friendly and accepting, and everything is family oriented. I look forward to meeting my host family. I would SO happy if I had a host brother that does martial arts.
