You should see the stuff LF's eight-year old can do, and he's been training in TKD since he was four. Kids are like sponges; if they are around a sport from a young age, they can really excel early. I can't wait to see what my 15-month old is going to be like since he's getting exposed to both jiu jitsu and kickboxing. He already tries to do bag work with us.

I will definitely put my b0y in a tkd class next year when he will be five. No other MA take young ones like TKD, I got to give them credit for that. My own silat only let students enrol when they reach 16 years old. My son has to learn the basics from other MA then.

Cute kid and awesome skills for his age! I think striking arts are easier to teach small kids and that's why you see so many tkd/karate tigercubs/ninja's/etc.... when it comes to grappling arts, well there needs to be more maturity IMO....
with that said, our youngest son is very 'keen' just from watching.. and does try to 'mimic' from time to time.. In one case he actually 'steered' another baby (about a week older than him and 8pounds heavier) to the ground and gained what looked closely like side mount..LOL Luckily the other 'mom' thought it was funny.. (she's a fitness student) My oldest was NOT at the gym until he was 2.5yrs old and only worked with the tkd and watched the tkd.. and went home before judo or jj.. (different days back then) until he was 6yrs old... so he is way to immature for actual jj OR bjj IMO.. we do work on how NOT to be taken down and/or getting back up.. but actual 'grappling' NOT for now!

That kid looks better than his old man, I hope my son surpasses me when he's older.

The black belt is not a mark or symbol of the end of the journey to ones mastery of the arts; rather it is the mark that one is done packing for their journey and may now take the first step in their true journey. This a journey which can not ever be complete, only traveled..."
That kid had better technique then a lot of adults. I would love to see him beat the hell out of some of the five year old black belts we've talked about

We don't take kids until they are 6 and then what we teach is really watered down. They are good enough to do a demo at a Shaolin Monk show later this month, so I guess its all relative.
