Apparently, it's symbolic of being born again in the blood of the lamb.
Although I do think Christianity is just the tops when it comes to religion, meditation is different. If you're a Christian, like me, meditate upon what it means that you're practicing an art to kill, in order to achieve peace. I know I might catch flack for this, but I like to think of Jesus as a ninja. He lived, preached, died, and came back, and promised to get his revenge. It's very ninja-like. Fake deaths, revenge by the sword.
But if you're going to get mixed up with the red ninjas, which i don't recommend, since they're part of the Kogo-ryu lineage, which is diametrically opposed to my clan and our sworn enemies, make sure you don't get mixed in with that radically communistic group in Idaho. They don't know anything about ninjitsu, and just do karate while wearing masks. It's sad.
and in that email you summed up a major problem in martial arts of today.
if martial artists stoped bashing each other for 'your tribes a rival tribe' and 'dont get mixed up with that dojo' then the world of martial arts would be a somewhat more productive place

Not getting mixed up with any ninjas, but I will steal some technique.
Interesting this is not the first time I have heard of the Jesus/Ninja connection. Apparently the walking on water was a ninja technique.

I find this very interesting. My information on Jesus Christ is somewhat limited (compared to what I'd prefer), although the notion that God taught him ninjutsu is, undoubtedly, very interesting indeed.

I take it not many of you have seen Talladega Nights- The ballad of Ricky Bobby. That was the first time I had ever heard Jesus being referred to as a ninja.

Do not be fooled into thinking your enemy's sin is worse than yours, or that your's is better than his.
If you get exicited by rivalry between groups then join a football team, or rugby team, or the army.
I dont think martial arts is about rivalry, especially rivalry that is uncertain. Based on history we are uncertain of.
No, but wouldn't it be interesting if you had a group tourny where guys from your Dojang had an all out battle with the guys from another Dojang. Large groups in combat have always interested me. Making the martial art more of a teamsport would be awesome.
I dont mean to be buble bursting here, but ill give you my take on ninjas, probably not right, but seems a bit more down to earth.
samurai rule japan, they rape, pillage, and burn villages, take liberties, steal crops and charge taxes, yet the peasants must still show unfaltering respect for them. Amongst civil wars and shoguns, the peasants are forgotten, used as cannon fodder, many are the unsung heroes of the civil wars.
Maybe a few peasants got fed up, they say screw this, im gonna live in the mountains, I'm sick of being abused, its not long for they find the need to acquire fighting skills, against mountain tribes and marauding samurai so they take up taijutsu (used here a general term for Japanese martial arts as it was popular amongst commoners) before they know it, there hundreds of peasants fleeing the samurai rule, they have crops, families but no form of income, so they go into the cities and steal, they work for shoguns as agents, assasins, there 'ninja' skills are simply learnt as they progressed. The samurai, afraid of these 'deamons' begin giving them names and masks.
Most of what we know about ninja today is merly rumour, spread mainly by the ninjas themselves as the rumours helped them maintain an air of mystery, and fear.
when in actual fact they were probably just a band of commoner rebels.

i dont see how jesus could've been a "ninja"....this is getting wierd lol.
the word ninja didnt come into common use until around World War 2. the term used prior was Shinobi-no-mono for people who practice ninjutsu.
Israelites didnt practice ninjutsu, they had thier own combat arts but not in relation to Japanese ninjutsu. theres no scripture ....cannon or apocrypha that mentions Jesus ever did any kind of combat arts or covert tactics associated with ninjutsu.
also...the Kanji written references for Shinobi has only been traced as far back as 8th century...thousands of years after Jesus' crucifixion.
what makes more sense is what is found in Apocryphal an Occultic texts that Jesus was a mystic who was initated into
the Order of the Essenes and the Cult of Osiris.
Ninja didnt run on water. those were folk tales spread by the gossip of villiagers because of the secrecy and mystery surrounding how ninja operated. and of course the ninja said nothing to
dispell the myth. because it worked to thier advantage and played into the psychological tactics they use.

LOL, Shinobi I'm sure no one here thought Jesus was a ninja. Atleast I hope so anyway. Nothing wrong with clearing up misconceptions though.
And Ben you might want to read up on the origins of ninjutsu. While you werent horribly wrong you were a bit abstract. Ninja Vol 1: Spirit of the Shadow Warrior would be a good place to start. Ninjutsu: History and Tradition, by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi is back in print now, it hasnt been for years.

Just my opinion... likely not right
I am ashamed to say that you are right about many samurai. However, I am proud to say that not all samurai are/were like that.
