Technically the term 'Shidoshi' is only used by Ninjutsu teachers who have been granted (checkable) a license from Hatsumi.
And before you ask I am not one of them...'Shidoshi' is just my nickname for this forum (;
Shidoshi means "teacher of the warrior way" while allot of people credit Hatsumi with inventing the term, it is infact a much older title and is dereived from the term shishi which meant warrior teacher.
Both terms are traced to koryu martial arts.

I dont credit Hatsumi with the term, I was looking to see if it is used more commonly than the other.

It exclusively used in ninjutsu & bujutsu systems, though allot use the term sensei instead. I know a Yoshin-Ryu Jujutsu school which uses the term shidoshi for instructors above 5th dan in Virginia

Would this be a problem with a instructor of a Chinese based martial art using this?
So, Kenpo, being Japanese based, promoted, etc., how could there be Sifus (Chinese term)
Never heard a kenpo instructor called a sifu? Technically you could call them Green-Eggs & his students Ham it wouldn't change much. You knw that Shakespearian thing about roses and all...

Well, one could call Ninjutsu Al Queda, but that doesnt do it justice either.
I'm disappointed to see there has not been any action in this blog for a very long time, I often find when I am researching that this blog room comes up. Seems like it got a little ugly once upon a time, that's too bad. I would like to be able to find this Ruso Quintalis person however just because they are from Manitoba as I am. They have also made reference to a Ninjutsu belt system that I would love to talk to them about. My husband and I own and operate a Martial Arts Club.
