Its my understanding that Capoeria came about because the people were not allowed to practice Martial arts without being punished. So they devised a form they masked as dancing

i tried capoiera once.....didnt work out. i cant dance lol
what amazes me is some dudes i knew in job corps from florida by way of brazil that did that style.....some of them were 6 ft tall an very muscular an buff
but can still move like Eddy Gordo does in tekken an kick butt

it easy to start off. start with a slow song, keep the rythem with that slow song then work your way up to faster songs.wile litening to tha songs move side so side like your dodging somthing. have one leg move wide then have your second leg folly it, but move instead of having them go next to eachother make the second leg move back words as well as to the side. repeat going to the other side. thats how you keep your rythem.
if you cant dance just do this to make it look like you can lol
