Other Martial ArtsDiscuss other martial arts here - such as Capoeira, Savate, Fencing, and Western Martial Arts, etc.
obviously takes time to learn but what would a newbie be started on? could i assume theres enough variety of moves to learn at the begining and you wouldnt be tied to a repetative routine?

You would probably learn the ginga first and foremost, then a few basic kicks, cartwheels and escapes.
Same with any martial arts class really, where do you start...at the beginning.
Of course it depends on the session, if you are joining a class with people who have been doing it for a few weeks or more you might feel like you've been thrown in the deep end for your first lesson, but just stick at it.

Reminds me of an Alice in Wonderland quote which goes something like, "Start at the beginning and keep reading until you come to the end. Then stop." Although in martial arts, I think coming to the end means that you have to raise you standards and aim higher.
