obviously takes time to learn but what would a newbie be started on? could i assume theres enough variety of moves to learn at the begining and you wouldnt be tied to a repetative routine?

You would probably learn the ginga first and foremost, then a few basic kicks, cartwheels and escapes.
Same with any martial arts class really, where do you start...at the beginning.
Of course it depends on the session, if you are joining a class with people who have been doing it for a few weeks or more you might feel like you've been thrown in the deep end for your first lesson, but just stick at it.

Reminds me of an Alice in Wonderland quote which goes something like, "Start at the beginning and keep reading until you come to the end. Then stop." Although in martial arts, I think coming to the end means that you have to raise you standards and aim higher.
Is that because your only black belt is here on MA Forums, or because you too have many worldly issues resulting from your lack of MA practice? I think MA can help you with your daily problems. They will teach you discipline, respect, and how to manage yourself.

Beginers should expect....to be really sore for the first couple of weeks. I mean in muscles you won't even know you had! Also expect to feel very akward. And if you've never played capoeira before, I suggest you just watch the first roda before buying in, just to get a brief idea of what's going on. But once you decide to buy in, your partner will work with you. You'll get the hang of it.
Location: My location is so secret, I don't even know where I am.
Styles: My style is so deadly that even to read its name would kill you!

What to expect from Capoeria? Hot chicks and after training dance parties! Just read the following "slightly" altered quote from BlackDragon.

Aaah, the Martial Forum, one of the few sites I know my missus won't want to visit.
