Modern Army Combatives

"In 1995, the Commander of the 2nd Ranger battalion ordered a re-invigoration of Army combatives training. because they realized that the traditional combatives methology didnt fit the reality of our modern training enviroment or the modern battle field.

the Modern Army Combatives Program or "MAC" "Macp" was developed over the course of 10 years which begins with the ground grappling of Brazilian Jiujitsu, Progresses to the throws and takedowns of Wrestling and Judo, through the stand up striking skills of Boxing and Muay Thai, the weapons

fighting styles of the Western martial arts and Filipino arts and combine all of that with scenario base training of Modern warfare and what we know about training large groups of Personell based on our experiences.

the central theme of all the techniques in MAC is the idea that you can practice them against a fully resisting opponent"

------ Matt Larsen, Sergeant First Class (Retired)
Creator of MACP

couple of Basic tenets of MAC

1. the winner of the hand-to-hand fight in combat is the one whose buddy shows up first with a gun

2.the defining characteristic of a warrior is the willingness to close with the enemy.
