The Eight Immortals are:
Immortal Woman He (He Xiangu),
Royal Uncle Cao (Cao Guojiu),
Iron-Crutch Li (Li Tieguai),
Lan Caihe,
Lü Dongbin, (leader)
Philosopher Han Xiang (Han Xiang Zi),
Elder Zhang Guo (Zhang Guo Lao), and
Zhongli Quan. | The Eight Drunken Immortals is a fictional tale

It is Chinese mythology based upon Taoism and not martial arts, and not Drunken Style Martial Arts. IMHO, you need to research more on Chinese mythology.
Thus, from this research, many martial art legends are fictional

Monkey style is done by a buffoon | I'm sure that drunkards and buffoons have done all manner of martial arts. Why would this detract from the serious artists?
What I am basically getting at is that the movements that make up the art only have basis in other things. Their uniqueness is what makes them useful (i.e. it is hard to hit someone if they are moving around in a way you don't understand). Likewise it is also their uniqueness that makes them interesting and fun. Surely you cannot be against someone pursuing an avenue of general interest and intrigue... |

But, the discussion of a style done by a drunk would seem to be only unique to THAT individual. And such his performance was only DONE drunk. And what is the "fun" of that.
There are flaws to myths and legends and to pursue a interest and intrique to such as to try and do, oer this particular is nonsense.

There are flaws to myths and legends and to pursue a interest and intrique to such as to try and do, oer this particular is nonsense. | I do agree about how it will always come down to the individual. However, you are wrong about every from of drunken boxing requiring the use of alcohol. In fact, the use of alcohol in many cases would actually make many drunken boxing techniques harder because of the amount of balance and control required. |

Home Country: | Drunken style boxing does not rely on one being drunk. It mimics the MOVEMENTS of a drunkard, not the vices. I think maybe the belief that someone has to be drunk to practice it has come from certain Jackie Chan movies. |

Acting drunk is not in its fullest. Thats why the word "drunken" is there. There are other aspects to the style that only being drunk, will contribute.
Yes, alcohol will make it harder for those that are used sober, are not actually drunken. Therefore, they are not doing drunken style if they cannot do the moves intoxicated.
The style's name, is the essence of how it came to be and used.
