I do think that if you find the right people for this project, your dream could indeed become reality. There are more people sharing this dream than just you.

I'm young, I'm not going to say my age, but I still have much time in my life. In this time however, I have a dream to start a place resembling the ancient temples... but modernized in some of the views... and advanced in some of it's ways.

Enough to illuding the actual topic. I want to make a place... a sanctuary for people to go to. A secluded sanctuary in the middle of the forest (yes it is starting to sound kind of out there, but here me out). Imagine a building, not built over the forest, but built IN the forest... made to be one with the forest. In this temple are masters of the various arts of the world, and students who are willing to devote not hours, but portions of their life to training. Whether it be months or years. These students are not restricted to learning just one art... but to learn any art they can.

Unlike in the ancient temples (and modern temples), spouses will be allowed in the center. People will not have to chose between their families and the arts. It will not, however, become a daycare fo children while parents fufill their dreams.

Of course, there will be moral and ethical standards to the students (and masters) of the center. Peace is of course the meaning of all arts... there is a time and place for competition. Profanity (including spousal relations) shall not be allowed within the premises. People are being aloud to live with their spuoses... but that doesnt mean they do anything in the dorm rooms.

I have a long time before this can happen. I have a vision in my head of the sanctuary... I have a dream of the people... the moeny on the other hand....

So basically, I'm just posting ot see how many of you find this an interesting and good concept? Who would attend it? Any recomendations?

Thank you.

This would be a very interesting thing and a great concept. To be honest, if I had the time to do so, I would definatly attend a place such as this to train and broaden my martial knowledge.

hmm... you remind me of a friend that had a similar dream. He's not in martial arts anymore though, unfortunately. Not to say your dream definately wont come true. However, as some people said, it will cost a lot of money, and i doubt a lot of people will want to go out of their way to go to a place in the middle of a forest. so it may be hard to get the money and keep the place going. It sounds interesting, though! i'd like to go somewhere like that. Good Luck!

Sounds like a DR.MLK quote.

Such a place would never last.

People are people with opnions and emotion (behind those opinions)

Religion is supposed to be like that, but yee, most wars was started on the conflict of religion.

That sounds very similar to an idea I had. It would really have to be self sufficient, or you would have to find some way to pay for food, water, electricity, etc.. What you really need is a rich person who may have had the same idea to invest and pay for the wholle thing...

Very True complete, but anything worthwhile is always difficult.

miccgil88, what an AWESOME idea!!!!

Yes, anything worthwhile will take some time and effort and will go through difficulty.

It definitely takes more than just putting up a free website and not promoting it at all.

Since inception, the site has had 81 visits only. That's not the way to accomplish something worthwhile.

Reality is the name we give to our disappointments. The trouble with most people is that they think with their hopes, dreams, fears, or wishes, rather than with their realistic minds.

An excellent idea in theory, an excellent idea in practice.

But of course, as always, the first and largest boundary is the initial funding.
Yes it would be a dream come true to have a centre for all Martial Artists to go and not just train, not just learn from your teacher but train and learn from others who practice a wealth of different styles.

A website is a good step forward, and forward is better than backward.
Maybe think of getting a sponsor and some signatures together?
If you do, you have my support.

I've always had a similar idea just not as thought out. What you really need is t oget publicity becuase whe npeople start to know who you are the'll be more likly to help you out.

I'd suggest going to MA masters and asking them personally, they might think its a load of, but bring detailed drwaings, plans even models of it and they could take you seriously. Also which forest would you build it in, which country ? you say it would be where you could learn any art, if you have it in japan but also teach chinese art, the Chinese MA masters aren't going to take you to seriously,

hope that makes sense or is it just a pile rubbish lol

Yeah, put it in a country that's basically neutral, where not many masters would take offense to/ Have a reason not to go because of location.

Shi Yan Ming would probably be one person to talk to since he knows numerous chines martial arts masters, and is a master himself. You've probably heard of Runs a shaolin temple in the USA

Back to reality.....

Most masters, those from other cultures disdain other arts.....
Korean vs Japanese
Japanese vs Chinese
Strikers vs Grapplers

ETC

Have we already forgot the thread?;
