I charge $20 for the first two weeks plus you get the uniform for free. If you decide you want to continue training and I want you to continue with us, it is $75 per month for basic training which includes 5 days per week possible training. If you are chosen for the tournament team, and you accept, it is an extra $60 initial start up to join tournament team, and then $30 per month extra to remain on the tournament team. For the $60, you get the extra training for the month, you also get the tournament team uniform. Tournament team recieves two extra classes per week of training. One class is on kata, the other is for sparring.
We are the least expensive in our area mainly because we are so new. There are two TKD schools on oposite corners from us, and another TKD school about a mile down the road, plus a BJJ school a mile down another road, and a Hapkido school about two miles up the other road. We are completely saturated with them here in Tampa. LOL Thats just a3 mile radius of schools that I listed. There are like 5 others that I didn't because I don't know what they teach. And I am the least expensive, which tells me that ppl are not just looking at price, but PERCIEVED value. I.E. If you charge more, you must be better.
So, how about you guys? What do you pay or if your a school owner, how much do you charge?
Ninjutsu. Which includes submission grappling, Bojutsu, Kenjutsu, cardio conditioning, meditation, and coaching opportunities. $134 a month. No fee to test.
WTF Tae Kwon Do. $115 a month with a testing fee, but we only test about 3 times a year so that isnt horrible. And to be honest I've skipped the last few testings just cause I dont really care about the belt per se.
$50 bucks a month for my local gym too.
Its all about location for me. These two places are really my only options for martial arts training.

Monthly dues at my TKD dojang are $40 for yearly contract students and $50 for non-contract students. There is a $20 registration fee at sign-up, and contracted students receive a free medium weight uniform.

I deal only with fight team members. I hold periodic tryouts for my team(I prefer some sort of MA back ground i.e. my newest fight team members are former sectional wrestling champs). I charge $85 a month with three months tuition due at sign up. The three months includes five days a week of training, a free double weave gi and a free pair of fight shorts. Students are required to buy, their own gloves mouth pieces and protective gear. I have a bunch of community boxing and mma gloves but they are all rather stinky and most opt to buy their own. On top of that I charge 20% of all pro purses and bonuses i.e. fight of the night, ammy's who receive bonuses keep their entire purse. In my area I am actually one of the cheapest MMA schools but, the midwest is a wash with MMA. I'm also able to work out deals on seminars and what not through our sponsors. So far we've been able to train with Hughes, Sherk, and AA for free so thats always a plus.

Keep in mind that I did not ask if you felt that you were paying too much or not enough. Just how much you pay. The value of the training is somewhat subjective. Is it worth it to you? Then you are not paying too much. If not, then you are overpaying.

Sounds like a very reasonable deal. And training with former UFC champion is priceless.
As for the testing fee, I remember it being a flat fee for all the color belts in the past (~$30) but I had noticed a new trend a while ago where they are now charging $10 more per each higher belts, ($30, $40, $50, and so on). As soon as one school started doing it, all other schools followed.
I only charge $25 for all belt tests under blackbelt. Once you go to test for Shodan, it's $100. I only get like $10 of that $100 though. My instructor gets $10 of it, and the rest goes to Walter Todd Sensei's widow.

I forgot to mention that there is a $50 fee for belt testing in bjj but, stripes are free.
This isn't my main source of income, I'm more concerned with producing quality fighters then making money off of them. You have to also figure in I make money of off fights as well, including sponsorship deals and my cut of fight purses.

Souldrum is correct, however, we also charge for rank testing (if you are allowed to test) $35 underbelt, $50 red belts, $100 for dan testing... if for some reason you do not pass your testing, your testings are free until you do! We have a Competition Team, which is free to join, participants must pay their own tournament entry fees and buy a team uniform ($50). We have a demo team, again free to join and no uniform requirements. We currently offer 3 days a week (usely 4). We also teach fitness classes, $65 for 6 weeks!
