in my school we do sparring from the word go but you need to have proper instruction first. as for self defense we do it all the time its one of the first things i did in the first lesson i think its just the school you study at and i feel for your unfortunate lady friend
Nice...but is there a minium age/level required before hand?
As an adult you can attend these classes once obtaining your blue belt. The juniors (4-7) can attend if they have obtained their brown belt.
No, I do not assist. I have yet to attend any of these classes. There is a (of course) one time fee of $225. This gets your equipment (practice weapons, new uniform top). After tourney and testing I have run low of $100 bills
i thought it was normal i mean yeah when i did karate when you were a certain degree black belt you could do some staffs but i always thought that TKD had no weapons whatsoever

Contrary, every TKD I had trained, visited, observed, HAD training in weapons....
