Quick advice on the board breaking thing: for your first it is probably easiest to use a side kick or an ax kick.

As an adult, once you hit blue belt you can start attending 'minor fields of study' at our school. Weapons, ground escape, etc.

One of them is this ...

Hanmudo

Seems at our school we get some Hapkido training as well. I haven't done it yet ... but it's starting to look interesting.

Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do are connected at the hip (literally if you want to say that TKD is feet and Hapkido is hands). Do it!

Korean Sword and Short Stick are offered at my school. They are totally optional and have special class times.

As an adult you can attend these classes once obtaining your blue belt. The juniors (4-7) can attend if they have obtained their brown belt.

No, I do not assist. I have yet to attend any of these classes. There is a (of course) one time fee of $225. This gets your equipment (practice weapons, new uniform top). After tourney and testing I have run low of $100 bills
