Yes. It's counting from 1 through 8. I would call it "form" or "Hyung", or "Poomse", not pattern.

Cheeky! LOL heheeh its cool. My throws are not perfect but the problem is you havnt seen my throws! If you knew the difference between throws and takedowns i would take your advice. Im guessing you are refering to my video i posted on here but they are takedowns not throws my friends
But if you ever need a manual on the difference just ask!

There are 3 sets of forms recognized at my school that are not unique to my school. The first, Tae Guek, we use mostly for colored belts. The second, Palgwe, we use mostly for advanced students. The third are the black belt forms. They are, in order, named as followed: Koryo, Kumkang, Taebek, Pyung Won, Ship Jin, Ji Tae, Chun Kwon, Han Soo and Ill Yo.

If you are doing research about Tae Kwon Do I recommend starting with two excellent books by Yeon Hwan Park and Jon Gerrard. They are called simply 'Tae Kwon Do' and 'Black Belt Tae Kwon Do.' ISBNs are 0-8160-2542-8 and 0-8160-4241-1. Good luck in your research, post what you come up with.

A good resource for Korean Forms/Patterns/Hyungs/Tuls/Poomse:
Tae Kwon Do Forms
This lists the forms from most styles of TKD, and most of them are links to a video of the form.

I know this is a semi-dead thread, but I did not think to put this in.

That's the typical traditional TKD form patterns.

I know, same with Japanese Karate systems. I thought somewhere, some known TKD, perhaps Korea, had other types

There are other types but the vast majority of lower level forms are that way. Passai is one that comes to mind that isnt. then of course Im speaking from my SBD background which isnt TKD exactly but korean none the less.
