that was an amazing video, but let's keep in mind that the muay thai student is used to taking hard hits. with tkd sparring is not about knockouts and we can't hit to the face or the head at all (W.T.F. rules) but as the saying goes it's not the art, it's the artist.
Styles: mixed martial art style, jeet kune do concepts, currently capoeira and some kick boxing

I agree, it wasn't about Tae kwan do vs muay thai being better in that fight. We could clearly see that the TKD guy was just a much better fighter period. It had nothing to do with superiority in the style at all in my opinion. It's not the style that wins the fight, without the fighter, the style is nothing. It is the good fighter that makes any particular style a good style for him. The style has no power within it's self, only the power in which we give it when we apply what we learn.
A buddy of mine has been taking Muah Thai for less than a year, but stopped recently because of a new job.
After a few months more of training, him and I are going to duke it out for fun. He has more training, but I have a 40 lb weight advantage. (He's at around 120 I'm just above 160)
If we get a chance to videotape it, I'll post it here.

You would do well to learn a bit of Muay Thai. It will help you out greatly in a fight against Muay Thai-ers. If he's smart he'll learn some Tae Kwon Do for the same reason.
