Not so. When I was a student, my friend Dean could best me. Our friend Jules could best him. I could best Jules. If I could best Jules, who could best Dean, why couldn't I best Dean also......
I know, stuff link this happens in the real world.
But... come on... there was no way you took my joke seriously. A TKDist beating up a nuclear warhead?
this just proves the tkd practioner was a better fighter. i was alittle dissapointed though with the tkd practioner because he had his hands down the whole time, and if the muay thai practioner was better trained or would stop being pushed back he could have easily hit him in. i practice tkd but i dont think this video really shows a good tkd practioner.
Vids dont prove or show anything then what the observer desires to interpret.

That post before mine, was that for post counting? How about the one after?
Hey, my post count has the same palaverment tone as anyone elses'
I didnt want to interpret anything as i like most people, believe that it is the person who wins not the style. And both hadnt really mastered their art to any degree anyway.
Tkd can beat nothing. So in my opinion, Tkd vs. whatever, Tkd Loses. TKD is made for tournaments, Kickboxing is made for knockouts.
Ps. I am aware of the very few quality, old school, TKD schools that use the art for self defense, I am assuming the Tkd you are refuring to is the 95% of the other TKD or majority of the schools out there.
Gotta say ... I couldn't disagree with you more.
As I am TDK, you would expect that I would say that. But if I am fighting somebody out on the street, they can expect a much different fight than what happens in a sparring session. That front kick that normally lands mid will of course, land on their knee. That spearhand will go into their throat or eye. I am sure that an elbow will find its way across the cheek or bridge of the nose. All sorts of fun can be had.
These are all things I have learned in TDK adn I haven't learned the half of it yet ... so I don't think I would rest easy discounting TKD practitioners.

I could state, from my resources that he is thinking incorrectly or is wrong, but I could get flamed for saying I am right and he is wrong......
I could say, he had not truly experienced TKD, but in his own mind, right, or source, he had.
So, maybe I should denounce my sources and say he is right.....

Lets clear this up now, if you think TKD is so weak go challenge a grand master. Ps: please post here if you survive.

I have a difference of opinion with you here on this. I don't disagree that TKD has all the street applicable defense techniques you describe. However, you will fight how you train. If you train for sport, you will fight with the sport limitations because you will revert back to your training. Real fights are too brutal, fast, and fluid to be asking your brain and body to do something you haven't trained them to do.

Nice post......
What if you train for sport and street? Using the distancing, Speed, timing, ect....that sparring has given you.
We do one class of sparring, and the next day we do Self defense....A lot of people in my school have been in fights. My teacher Has been in a lot of street fights before he started martial arts. He knows what works and what doesn't work in a fight.....He teaches self defense to the State Police in our area.
If I was to get in a fight, I would use a lot of things sparring has given me, a well As Self defense classes.
