Everyone trains for their own reasons. I'm not trying to be rude, but I do not believe that belts are the best goal. Belts are nice, but the skills are by far more important and useful.
I understand and that's all and good, but with my physical obstacles, I am in it for fitness only...yes I know that skills are good to have but that's not why I started this in the first place.
The belt is only symbolic of my ability to conquer my disability...I hope that's not confusing...

I guess my true and honest to goodness real goal is just to keep going and don't quit!

Karen, that would be an admirable goal for many who dont have any physical encumbrance. For a person that does have a physical problem that goal alone can be what keeps you going. I wish the best for you in completing that goal!

I respect that Karen. Like I said, everyone trains for their own reasons. If you train mostly for fitness, try and create some fitness goals. I respect anyone who does not quit and has the gumption to continue to train and not let anything get in their way.
Good Indomitable spirit by not letting any physical conditions stop you from training.

The black belt is not a mark or symbol of the end of the journey to ones mastery of the arts; rather it is the mark that one is done packing for their journey and may now take the first step in their true journey. This a journey which can not ever be complete, only traveled..."

Good job sneaking a tenet of TKD in there.

Way to go Karen! Keep it up. I also only train for fitness (and because it is fun). I don't have near the obstacles you have any I must say your perserverance is unmatched by the masses. It is good to have goals, somedays my goal is to just make it to the dojang where I can get a workout. I can see with your focus and dedication that you will train and achieve much higher goals. Congrats.
I'm glad your testing went well, its builds your confidence.Just remember you earned your belt.It may have felt easy but you put alot of training, dedication, and I'm sure a few bumps and bruises into getting to your testing.
You may be half way to your black belt but still have the rest of your life to train and learn.I hop when you get your black belt you will feel that you are half way to your second degree.
congrats on the promotion and keep up the good work.
