TKD is on the verge of being kicked out of Olympic because of this very issue.
My master is very involved with international tournaments. He was just at the World Championships in denmark as an official.

He told me that a lot of people are stirring things up about Taekwondo being dropped from the Olympics. With all the money "donated" by the WTF he said Taekwondo isn't going anywhere. Whether people like admitting it or not there is a lot of money involved with Olympic politics.

my question is the following:

if tkd is dropped, could point-style fighting be allowed? why not have different divisions of fighting; ie, mma, grappling, kung-fu, and all others willing to train for and represent their styles? then again, money does play a role and those in power have the influence...

Awesome video...I usually train a more tradition TKD, but occasionally they do offer an olympic style training session. I was able to help score at the junior olympic trials this year and it was really cool to watch them spar.

I've seen this video before, and it's definitely one of my favorites. I've actually gone back and rewatched it just because I could. Some of the kicks these people pull off are amazing.
