Open Tournament in Mississippi

My TKD school's next scheduled open tournament will be this coming Saturday, May 17 as we travel out-of-state to compete in the East Mississippi Open Karate Championships in Meridian, Miss. Looks like only three of our competition team members will be going, but it should be interesting.
The event is hosted by the Mississippi Karate Association, and they are a good bit different from what we are used to at the Alabama Karate Circuit events we regularly attend. One good change that the MKA has made this year is that they are no longer going to allow groin strikes for points. I competed in this tournament last year and was shocked when I found out they allowed and called points for strikes to the groin.
Anyway, I'll update you all on how we do.

Hope they feel better.

Well, neither myself nor Lady Fighter got to attend the tournament on Saturday. We had some family issues come up and had to play host to LF's grandmother and cousins for the weekend.
However, one of our junior blackbelts did get to go, and she won first place in point sparring.

Congrats.......

That's not too far of a drive where I am currently, but my weekends are booked probably for the whole summer.

Thanks. I doubt we'll be heading over to Mississippi for another tournament any time this year. The remainder of our tournament schedule will put us in North Alabama in June, August, and October.

I guess, like Ladyfighter's dad, there comes a time to hand over the reins, and put effort into other things
