UFC 72: JUNE 16, 2007 IN BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

Round 1
Hometown favorite Stevie Lynch enjoyed a raucous welcome to the cage, but that didn't matter much to Ohio's Dustin Hazelett, who spoiled the Irishman's debut with a D'Arce choke from half-guard midway through the first period.
Returning to the UFC for the first time since being fed to Mirko Filipovic, Eddie Sanchez outlasted Colin Robinson despite a troubling first round. Robinson mounted Sanchez several times but the American heavyweight didn't give in, even when faced with a tight armbar with time running down in the first. But Sanchez survived and finished the period by mounting and pounding on Robinson.
The second period saw a different score, as Sanchez needed just 32 seconds to end the contest. Connecting with a punching combination, Sanchez drove the local fighter to the octagon canvas, where he again mounted and pounded down strikes before referee Herb Dean called the contest.
Round 1
Marcus Davis continued his tear, stopping Jason Tan just 75 seconds after the opening bell. Tan had no idea what happened to him after he was knocked out, and held Davis' leg until referee Yves Lavigne pulled him away.
Ed quickly goes for the takedown and succeeds. Ed has Scott against the fense and starts landing some punches and elbows. Scott tries to escape, Ed almost had his back, both fighters standing and in clinch. Ed lands some knees with thai clinch. Ed picks him up and slams him to the ground. Ed continues to land elbows and punches to Scott's head. Scott is bleeding viciously. Referee stops the action to check on Scott's cut. Back to same position. Scott is more active from the ground after the brief medical interruption. A minute left in the round. Scott escapes and ends up at the top. Both fighters go for the leg lock but neither were successful. Ed almost had him in rear naked choke but Scott escapes and starts to land some punches to Ed on the ground. The round eds with promise of a lot of action ahead.
Ed comes out less fresh in the second round. Both fighters clinch and Scott has Ed's neck. Ed takes Scott to the ground but Scott still has Ed's neck and Ed looks to be in danger. Somehow Ed gets his head out and is on top of Scott again, and here comes the punches and elbows. Scott's nose is bleeding again. Scott tries to reverse but gives up his back. Ed gets the rear naked choke.
Both fighters cautious and circling around the octagon. Few exchanges of punches but nothing big. Tyson goes for the kick but Clay grabs the leg and tries takedown. Clay has Tyson against the fence. Tyson has Clays head and goes to the ground. Clay trying to work his head out and does. Tyson almost has the back but Clay is defending well and has Tyson's leg. Tyson lands couple of punches in clinch. 90 seconds remaining. Out of clinch, few exchanges of punches. Clay goes for the takedown but doesn't succeed. Tyson lands some punches and a kick to the head. Clay goes down and grabs onto Tyson's leg. Clay lands a right and as both fighters scramble on the ground, the round ends.
Tyson comes out swinging. Clay tries for the kick, misses and again grabs onto Tyson's leg. clay almost picks up Tyson but Tyson defends. Tyson throws few wild punches but Clay blocks. Great display of wrestling moves by both fighters. Transition after transition. Clay has the leg and goes for the lock but Tyson is swinging away from the behind. Clay has Tyson's back and has both legs. Tyson standing with Clay on his back, drops down and makes Clay's head hit the floor. Clay has the body triangle, and trying for the choke. And the bell rings.
Tyson comes out swinging again. Exchanges of punches and knees with both fighters standing. Clay goes for the single leg takedown but no success. Second attempt has Tyson against the fence. Tyson rolls and is able to land elbows to Clay's head. (weird position) Clay on top again in half guard with 2:30 minutes left. Clay trying to pass the guard but Tyson rolls and is now in full guard position. Both fighters throwing wild punches and kicks. Clay still on top keeping Tyson down. Clay landing punches and the round ends.
Jason throws an inside leg kick, then clinches. Jason has Rory against the fence and throws couple of knees and stomps on his feet. Jason wasn't able to take Rory to the ground and both fighters just stomping on each other's feet. Now Rory has Jason against the fence and throws some knees. Suddenly, Rory has Jason in a thai clinch and jumps to throw the knees but ends up on bottom of a full guard. Jason on top, working to better his position throws few punches. Rory kick his out of that position and both fighters standing again. Jason shoots and misses. Rory had the full mount, Jason turns and Rory has the back. Jason reverses and ends up on top of the guard. Rory tries for the triangle but the round ends.
Jason goes for the takedown and has the top position. Jason tries to trap Rory's arm under the body. Jason contiues to throw punches to the body and to the head but Rory is doing a pretty good job of minimizing the damage. 2:30 to go. Rory has the full mount position and is trying to land punches while Rory trying his best to block the damage with his arms but the referee stops the fight.
Forrest comes out swinging and leg kicks. Hector tries for the takedown and has the half guard. Forrest escapes and the crowd loves it. Forrest throws a head kick. And lands a leg kick. Hector swings and a miss. Another series of leg kicks by Forrest. Hector lands few punches and Forrest backs away. Hector swings wild and misses. Leg kick by Forrest and good counter by Hector. Now Hector throws the head kick. Forrest lands some good combinations of kicks and punches, Hector tries to counter but Forrest backs away.
Forrest comes out kicking and punching, ends up in a clinch but neither fighters able to take it to the ground. Forrest is sticking to his game plan of throwing combinations and backing away, instead of going toe to toe. Crowd is certainly Forrest's side. Flurry of exchanges by both fighters, but nothing doing any major damage. Forrest lands some good punches. Fight stops for a low blow by Forrest. Same thing by Forrest, throwing combos and backs off before Hector can counter.
