Both fighters standing and throwing wild punches and kicks. Josh is the aggressive one but wild punches not doing much at this point. GSP looks to be holding onto his points and want to last the round. GSP lands some good kicks and punches, with frequent superman punches. Nice combination by GSP. Josh has GSP's leg, hoping for a takedown. GSP defends and ends up at the top. GSP lands elbows from the guard position. Elbows after elbows. The round ends as GSP tries for the leg lock. GSP motions for the belt.
Gabriel comes out first with punches. Randy lands the first punch and takes Gabriel down. Gabriel stands up and escapes. Randy now has Gabriel in clinch against the fence. Rand able to land some punches but ends up eating a Gabriel's leg, but Randy able to pick Grabriel up and slams him down. Gabriel lands an elbow to Randy's head. Gabriel is showing blood on his nose. It may be broken as the blood is pouring down into his mouth. Randy still has Gabriel against the fence in a clinch, hitting him with elbows and punches. Gabriel looks exhausted, breathing out his mouth with bloody pouring. The round ends as Gabriel tried for the guillotine choke.
Gabriel goes for the high kick and misses. Randy ducks and grabs Gabriel, has him against the fence in a clinch. Randy swings and a miss. Randy connects with uppercuts and grabs his back. Gabriel calls the referee saying he can't see, but wants to continue the fight. The fight continues and Gabriel loses the point for holding onto the fence. Randy continues to pour elbows and punches to Gabriel's head. Gabriel is in trouble as Randy lands a lot of punches, then clinches to close the distance. Gabriel looks exhausted. Randy working the uppercuts and elbows in the clinch. Another big round for Randy.
Gabriel's nose is looking really bad as it continues to pour blood. Gabriel throws the high kick. His second kick lands on Randy's head but Randy able to shake it off. Randy again has Gabriel against the fence. Randy takes him down to the ground, throwing down the elbows and punches. The referee stops the fight as Gabriel could not intelligently defend himself.
complete what do you think happened gonzaga? i havent seen it yet its on tonight. did he get tired? was it pressure? was he just not ready to fight couture?

It was Randy's experience and game plan that overcame Gonzaga's superior physical strength and youth.
Randy initially exchanged punches with him but closed the gap with takedown attempt or clinch against the fence, then would do his "dirty boxing" to wear out Gonzaga. Then, Randy picked up Gongaza at one point and slammed him to the ground and ended up breaking Gonzaga's nose. So, he was forced to breath through his mouth, which tired him out. Randy stuck to the same game plan and was able to do more and more damage throughout the first 2 1/2 rounds. In the third round, he was able to get Gonzaga to the ground and pound him out until referee stopped the fight. Gonzaga did land some high kicks to Randy's head and got some good punches in but Randy was able to recover fast and stuck to his game plan.
