Dan almost escaped but Frank is still on top. Not doing much so referee stood them up. Frank goes for the take down but Dan sprawls. End of Third Round.
Due to heavy traffic, this account was suspended for almost 20 hours.
Let me post what happened since the last post.
Tito and Shamrock had no lost love between them. Even during the weigh-in the day before, Tito made a fuss about Ken weighing in at 206 (It should be 205 but each fighter have 1 pound allowance) Ironically, Tito weighed in at 206 1/2. Even after he took off his underpants and breathing out, he was still voer at 206 1/4. He had to run around for half an hour to finally make the weight at 206.
During the pre-fight introduction, referee ordered each fighter to touch gloves and neither fighter made an attempt.
Fight started, Ken came out aggressive, forcing Tito towards the fence, but Tito took Ken down by double leg take down and started pounding his elbows. Tito landed what seems like 5-6 consecutive elbows without defense and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight 1 min 8 seconds into the first round. Ken jumped up and started complaining about why the ref stopped the fight so soon, but it was already too late and the match was over. The crowd was unhappy and started booing and yelling "bulls**t, bulls**t"
Las Vegas police had to get involved to stop Ken from going after Tito and it was over.
While the crowd was unhappy with how quickly the fight ended, UFC president Dana White came into invite Vanderlei Silva into the Octagon and also invited Chuck Liddell, announcing their upcoming fight between them, after Chuck's fight against Sobral.
Tito did say if Ken wanted to fight again, he would gladly do, but I'm sure he'd rather fight Chuck to get his light heavyweight title back. The general understanding was that Tito would get the title shot after Shamrock fight but it looks like Chuck will be busy with Sobral match, then Silva match.
The next fight was Josh Burkman vs. Josh Neer. The fight went the distance for the full 3 rounds, and the unanimous decision went to Josh Burkman, as he dominated two of the three rounds.
The main event was highly anticipated rubber match between Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski. The previous two fights between them did not last very long, as each had quick first round victory.
This time, it was a much different story.
Both fighters respected each other and played safe. Andrei, who's has reach disadvantage and better ground game surprisingly did not attempt any take down and traded punches and low kicks with Tim.
Both fighters traded some good punches, each having some highlight moments, but nothing close to a knock out or even a take down.
As championship match, the fight went full 5 rounds. In the end, unanimous decision when to Tim and he retained his heavyweight title.
Earlier in the day, Jeff Monson won his fight and probably won a shot at the heavyweight title and Tim sounded like he's willing to give him the fight, with confidence.
This was another action packed UFC. Few great fights. I was very disappointed with how soon the Ortiz-Shamrock fight lasted, after all that hype, it was shame.
I don't think we are going to see Shamrock fight again. He has lost last 5 out of 6 fights.
Replays clearly show Ken was never "out", he was attempting to block and dodge throughout.
I'm sure he'll be willing to fight again but I see Tito OhPleez ducking.
You forgot to mention the crowd booed throughout almost the entire Sylvia-Arlowski fight and rightfully so, it was woefully dissapointing. They looked like two friends sparring in a gym.
