Round 5
The fifth and final round starts with both fighters looking for a big punch. Griffin gets the best of early action with a right straight. Griffin goes back to the leg with a kick after tasting a right hook. Jackson turns it up a bit with a strong flurry. In the bout's final minute, Griffin went to the leg while Jackson loaded up with shots. Jackson was unable to connect as the close fight came to a close.

Forrest Griffin def. Quinton Jackson via unanimous decision (48-46, 48-46, 49-46) and is the new Light Heavyweight champion.

A little irritated with the decision, I scored the fight 47 - 47 a draw. In championship fights you have to give close rounds to the champ it's been that way forever but, I think because of the popularity of Forrest it went to him.

So now the next title fight will be the winner of Rashad v Liddell.

Well PRIDE fans we still have Anderson Silva and Nog

While I didnt score points, I thought Griffin won. I didnt think rampage even came close to finishing it and griffin did several times. I wish they just kept fighting until someone won....

It was very close fight, much closer than what the final judges showed on their scorecard. Even Forrest admitted it was close (he's been in many close fights). Still, he did win a well deserved victory and should be congratulated for all his effort. It's hard to hate someone like Forrest if you are a fan of MMA. The guy works hard, is not pretentious, and very humble, win or lose, never complains.

As usual, I agree with TRIANGLEFROMGAURD. I voted for Forrest to win by decision in the poll, and I wanted him to win; but a Champ has to have the title taken from him with a degree of decisiveness. I scored Forrest vs. Rampage a draw as well.

Couture vs. Sylvia was an example of a recent championship fight, that went to a decision, where the challenger controlled the entire match.

I'm very anxious to see how Anderson Silva does in this division. I don't think Rashad Evans is quite to the level of Forrest and Rampage yet, and Iceman is; regrettably, past his prime.

I had it 3 rounds for Griffin as well, but very close fight and what you would expect of a championship fight.

Congrats to Forrest, he is good for the sport.

I like both Forrest and Quinton. Think they are both good for MMA and class acts in thier own way. This was one of those matches that both guys were easy to cheer for. I thought Quinton would win, but I'm not disapointed he didn't.

Too bad for Almeida, I really wanted him to win that fight. A couple of takedowns in the last round and he would have had the decision I think.

Oh well.

Yeah I really wanted big dog to win that fight to. Honestly it was kind of a disappointing fight. I can't believe they didn't stop that Koscheck fight!!!!!
