Great play by play. I like Matt but I'm glad GSP won.
After GSP won the fight and celebrated with his team, he quickly went over to Matt and gave him a hug, asking him if he's OK. He kept encouraging Matt that he's the by far the best fighter he's ever fought, and he would give him a rematch anytime. A very humble and gentle champion. No wonder he's so popular.
Thanks Stash.
I didn't know that Matt had gotten kicked in the groin twice. The first time is always brushed off as an accident, but 2 times? I replayed the groin kicks each time they happened to see how close they were. They were direct hits. It can take some steam out of you when you get kicked like that. Of course that makes good fodder for the 'rubber match'. Thanks again for getting us that u-tube.

After the second groin kick, the referee John McCarthy warned GSP. He knew that GSP wasn't intentionally going for the groin. His shins were landing on the inner thigh, as targeted, but his foot was climbing up and hitting Matt in the groin area. I don't think it had any impact on the rest of the fight though. I also doubt Matt will use that as an excuse.
BTW, during the UFC, they were promoting the rematch between Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell for UFC 66, and Tito was saying the last time they fought, Chuck's thumb poked his eyes and it went dark, then Chuck landed a few punches, and the referee stopped the fight. Sounds like he's not admiting that Chuck beat him the first time. Or, they are just trying build up the hype for UFC 66.
Here is a pic from UFC 65, the fight between Tim Sylvia and Jeff Monson. This is when Jeff had the mount but Tim was able to defend very well and almost got Jeff in a triangle choke.
