Round 2
Lazy Riley kicks allow Pearson to land a series of right hand counters, pushing Riley into the fence again. Riley lands a series of stern elbows in the clinch, while Pearson puts a knee into his gut. They separate, and resume boxing from distance, with nothing landing until a clean left hook from Pearson. Pearson doubles his right hand, and lands both on Riley, who has been two steps behind the whole bout. Riley continues to throw lunging left hooks and miss. Pearson grabs Riley’s neck as he wades in, and lands a volley of knees, punctuated with a flush jumping knee that smashes Riley’s nose. Blood instantly begins to flow out of Riley’s nostrils, prompting referee Marc Goddard to call for a doctor check. The doctor takes one look at Riley’s bloody nose, and says, “That’s got to go,” making Ross Pearson the victor at 4:38 of the second round.
