Should change some of rules

I think that the time limit of rounds should be changed, actually I like the old rules better on no time limit. I know alot of people got frustrated at Royce keeping someone in his guard for 10 or longer mins working or waiting for his opponent to do something stupid. It just seems like the time limit is trying to get it more into the same rules as boxing or kickboxing. MMA is more of finding out who is the best rounded fighter, what's next making it more like the Sabaki Challenge? I know in all of the fights in either Pride, UFC, Sabaki, etc. needs a referee for the safety of the fighters not to actually kill each other. It's like stopping a fight cause of a cut, if the other fighter is protecting & fighting back & not gushing blood (that he'd bleed to death)... why stop it? Helio Gracie had arm almost ripped off, broke & tore and ended up winning the fight... there are others also that has went passed the pain and won (which are real warriors of the ring).

We had a similar thread about whether the referee should allow attacking the defenseless opponents and general consensus has been the rule to protect the fighters is preferred.

I know what you are saying. The second fight between Shamrock and Royce went over 30 minutes before it was considered a draw. From fans point of view, that can be boring. These leagues is all about entertainment value, which directly translates to more fans and more revenues.

There are pros and cons to each but the fans pay a good money to see good action. They don't want to see guys holding on to each other for a long time. At the same time, they don't want to see fights ending too early just because of a minor injury either.

Fortuanately/unfortunately for those rules, UFC has become more like boxing and more main stream. As with any changes, some will like the changes and some will like the way things were.
