Just my predictions. I like B.J. Penn and all, but I think St. Pierre has his number this time around.
We shall see what happens on this one though....Sounds like a decent card....kinda low key, but a nice one nonetheless.
Black Belt magazine features Lyoto on the cover of the Feb. 09 addition. The article starts off with this quote - "A traditional martial artist can rise to prominence in the mixed martial arts by imposing his will on opponents while strategically avoiding their attacks." He is 13 & 0 and is on his way to becoming a champion.
lyoto still puts on a gi and works out in Shotokan with his family 2X a week. His style baffles many of his opponents simply because there are not many traditionalists in MMA. He is evasive & hard to hit. He can hit back plenty though & you can get hit by a front kick or a lunge punch any time he decides to throw it.
The fight I really want to see though is GSP & BJ. I don't want to pick either one of them. I just want to see the fight.

How the heck does Fitch go to a possible undercard?
Lyota may have a good record Sensei, but I think he would of lost vs. Ortiz if he would have stood and fought, Ortiz hadn't been that ready in a long time.
I'm not an Otiz fan but I'm less of a Lyota fight style fan.
Lyoto had a much better game plan than Tito Oritz and that's why he won. I've read the BB Magazine article on Lyoto and he's a very technical fighter. He may not be the fanciest fighter to watch, and that's why he hasn't been offered the title shot even though he's undefeated but you still have to appreciate how he breaks down his opponent to his fighting style and comes up as a winner.
Rashad just got his title shot and was 17 and 0 before with high light reel knock outs. I agree that if Lyoto would have stood and banged with Tito, he would have lost but, he fought smart and got the win over one of the biggest names in the division. Although I think Thiago Silva will smash him, that guy is such a BA. Jon Fitch better not be put on the undercard, I'd way rather see that fight then the Lyoto v. Silva fight.
My picks.
Welterweight Bout:
Georges St. Pierre (#1 Welterweight in the World)* vs. B.J. Penn (#1 Lightweight in the World)* Other then the wrestling aspect of the game BJ is better then GSP in every aspect of MMA
-Jon Fitch (#2 Welterweight in the World)* vs. Akihiro Gono
-Lyoto Machida (#4 Light Heavyweight in the World)* vs. Thiago Silva (#10 Light Heavyweight in the World)*
-Karo Parisyan (#10 Welterweight in the World)* vs. Dong Hyun Kim Karo needs a win here I hope he shows up in shape
-Nathan Diaz vs. Clay Guida This is iffy since he just left G2 to start his own training team but, he should impose his will on Diaz
-Jake O'Brien vs. Christian Wellisch
-Chris Wilson vs. John Howard
-Manny Gamburyan vs. Thiago Tavares
-Stephan Bonnar vs. Jon Jones
-Matt Arroyo vs. Dan Cramer

I think UFC is trying to build up some new stars by putting some of the already well known fighters on the undercard. Similar to what they did to Okami vs. Lister, but that actually turned out to be a boring fight.
I don't get it either. Fitch v. Gono has the possibility to be Fight of the Night material (could be difficult to outshine a GSP/Penn rematch) and it possibly won't even be shown. What a crock.
