I hadn't heard about this event. Is it really a fight for the troops? I mean, I'm glad that the UFC is recognizing the service of our military, but where are the profits for this event going? If it's really a fight FOR the troops, Dana White would donate the profits to the veteran's administration or some other charitable organization that benefits the military. JMHO

This was announced a while back and yes I think he said the proceeds from this will go towards some charity related to military families.
And it's free on SpikeTV.
Okay. In that case, great idea by the UFC.

This is something that the XFC has been doing here in Tampa for a while now. (almost 3 years) They have the fights at the St. Pete Times Forum, and give all military personell free entry. They also do a swearing in of new recruits during the show. They also give a portion of the proceeds to the VA I think. Also, a lot of the fighters in the past have been either ex-military, or active duty military. I've only missed two of their shows in 3 years. This last one was the best one yet. In the past, they've been almost NC-17 shows because they pay the local strippers to come and dance during the intermissions clothed of course, but not leaving much to the imagination). This last show was actually more geared toward the fighters and the girls were better clothed and not performing pole dances in the cage. I'm there to see fights, not pole dancing strippers. If I want to see that, I would leave my kids at home and go to the local strip club....This is Tampa...I think we have a few of them around. LOL
So, yeah, Dana needs to do something more if he's going to say it's "for the troops".
I get kinda "iffy" when it comes to most of the for the troops stuff. Sometimes it great and legitimately heart felt and other times it involves alterer motives...
