About two or three months ago my girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere to eat after training and we stopped in this littel Pizza place in Springfield called Malek's. It's a pretty small, Mom and Pop Pizza place in a not so great part of Springfield. So we were sitting eating and chatting and in through the door walks Aaron Riley and some of the guys from One Spirit where Aaron is the MMA instructor. So for the next 15 minutes I keep asking my girlfriend "Should I go over there? I feel dumb, dude just wants to eat his food. Should I go over? Nah. Well, what should I do?"
She's laughing at me cause I'm a bit star struck (for those who don't know, Aaron Riley has been doing MMA since before the dawn of time) and I hate looking like a fan boy.
Eventually I decide on the way out I am going to go over and introduce myself. So my girlfriend and I start walking over to the table, they're all talking and laughing and he kind of looks up at me like "Is this going to be our waiter?"
So I say "Aaron Riley?"
He responds "Yes?"
I stick out my hand to shake his hand and say "I'm Joe Cunningham, I'm a big fan. I am an instructor over at the Yamasaki Academy".
See, I figure by dropping that I'm actually an instructor that implies some rank within BJJ which will garner me some kind of respect. Which seems to work because he says
"Oh hey, great to meet you! Thanks!"
And his guys are all staring at me like they want to eat my face, which is weird because we're in pretty well with the One Spirit guys and Pedro Sauer.
So now that we've established that:
a. I'm cool enough to know who you are
b. I'm cool enough to come over and say hi
c. I'm involved within the sport, not just some fanboy wearing a Tapout Shirt
I figure I need to leave on a high note.
"Didn't want to interrupt your guys dinner, I just wanted to come over and introduce myself".
And I'm out!
I was all giddy for three days after that.
I am such a dork.

I think that KFLO is going to get the upset exposing BJ's lack of heart.

I really like Batman he is a great grappler, and one tough s.o.b. I was disapointed when nate diaz beat him.
