BROCK LESNAR RESPONDS TO FRANK MIR'S CRITIQUE Thursday, July 02, 2009 - by Steven Marrocco - MMAWeekly.com In a May interview with MMAWeekly.com, UFC interim heavyweight champion Frank Mir said Brock Lesnar was just doing it for the money.
“I’m a martial artist; he’s a professional fighter,” said Mir. “He fights because he gets paid to fight. If the UFC were to go bankrupt tomorrow, a month later I would still be in some small organization fighting. Not because I need to; my house is paid off, my cars are paid; I don’t need the money as far as desperately.
“I fight because I enjoy fighting. I enjoy the preparation and the training and the mindset, everything that goes behind it. I don’t know if we can say the same about Lesnar. If Lesnar was making $10,000, would he show up to fight?”
On a Wednesday teleconference promoting Mir's title unification rematch with Lesnar at UFC 100, Lesnar told reporters that, yes, it’s about the money. But it’s no less about the love.
“(He has) desires to fight, and I’ve got mine,” said Lesnar. “I truly love what I’m doing, and it just so happens that I get paid a lot more money than he does. So, at the end of the day, whoever’s happy, that’s his prerogative. I’m happy with the way I’m doing it, and hopefully he’s happy the way he’s doing it.
The fact that he is getting more money than Mir is kinda outrageous, but I don't really care who gets paid more. I just want to see how much better he is now.
It almost sounds like Mir is expecting to be beaten.

Mir got lucky the first time. If Lesnar has improved much Mir is in a world of trouble.

Your right he is a good fighter, but Lesnar was beating Mir pretty viciously until lesnar got caught.

Soooo....This time, if Lesnar is our grappling Mir, and Mir knocks out Lesnar with a punch, will it then be declared a "lucky punch" as well?
Face it, Lesnar got beat because he made a mistake. It was his lack of experience in the sport that led to it.
Don't make excuses for Lesnar loosing the first match. He lost. Period. He tapped out. No-one else was in there with him to make him do it other than Frank Mir.

He lost fair and square. I'm not making excuses for him, I need to save my good excuses for me. I really don't like either fighter so there is no favoritism either.
I do re-tract the luck comment because Mir is a BJJ BB so he is obviously a good submission artists. I'm just saying that Lesnar looked dominant until he got caught. The power and agressiveness of Lesnar is plain scary.

IDK Jason....If Lesnar has gotten better, I think he will hurt Mir...I can't wait though. I seriously hope that Mir wins again, but I am prepared to shut up if he looses.
I think that Frank Mir might lose this time. I definitely want him to win, but Brock Lesnar's going to be dramatically better than the last time, for sure. He's more experienced this time.
