UFC Manny v Joe

In the 1st round Manny controlled the ground game and maintained the top position although he did not do any damage. The 2nd round was more of the same Manny keeps taking Joe down at will and he keeps him down. Still no real damage. In the 3rd Manny kept working like a tank. Joe did get Manny's back but Manny got out and kept Joe down again. Winner Manny. Dana White said that there have been 2 guys he underestimated Rashad Evans and Manny. He apologized to Manny for underestimating him. Next is Gray and Nate. That should be a good fight.
Thanks,
Sensei Tom

I was very surprised that Joe actually said before the fight that he was stronger than Manny. Hell I knew he wouldnt be stronger than him, and I'm watching this on tv! Anyway Joe had some serious fear in his eyes. If you dont want a guy shooting in on you PUNCH him the face and knee him anytime he puts his head down. Obviously easier said than done. But how many jabs did Joe throw at the beginning of rounds? I could count them on one hand. He had to be the agressor and make the fight a standing brawl for him to win or atleast not end up on his back the whole fight. That was just sad.

Hats off to Manny totally controlled that fight, the pitbull reference was very accurate. His height keeps people from leveraging him off of them, sweeps or such.

I would have prefered to see him fight Gray not Joe. I think Joe is a better fighter, just didnt bring any fight at that night.

Joe v Manny

I too was surprized that Joe said he was stronger than Manny. Maybe he really believed that and that's why he went to the ground with Manny insted of using those jabs and keeping it stand-up. In any case he believed wrong. Now it's down to 3. Who is it going to be?
Thanks,
Sensei Tom

If you've kept track of the predictions that Dana made before each fight, he's been off more than he's been right. And yet, he's the president of UFC. How's that possible?

Dana's picks

It's true. Dana said himself that he was surprised that Joe lost. I don't feel so bad with my own picks in comparison to the head of the organization. Having said that I will pick Manny to win all the marbles.
Thanks,
Sensei Tom

Karo & Nate

I don't know what started the shouting match between them but I thought that Karo was more professional than that. Maybe he felt that Nate dissed him somehow but they should have resolved it off camera.
Thanks,
Sensei Tom

I think Karo always thought of Nate as a little kid and Nate didn't wanted to be dissed anymore.

In this case, I think Karo was wrong for expecting respect from Nate, rather than earning it. (He certainly earned it in the ring and from the MMA fans, but he didn't earn it from Nate)
