Episode 1

The season premier tonight.

I think to say that there is a bad blood between Hughes and Serra is quite an understatement.

For Hughes, it's all about winning and all about him. I'm not sure if he really cares about any of his fighters. He only cares enough that he can use them to beat Serra's team.

For Serra, to lose his #1 pick and his own student was pretty demoralizing. Joe did not look ready at all. Maybe it was the jitters.

Dana picks up where he left off with all the cussing, which was expected. I was actually surprised that Serra does a bit of cussing as well, something Hughes has pointed out.

We shall see how the second fight goes. Stay tuned.

Serra was put at an immediate disadvantage when it was known one of his friends/students was one of the contestants. Hughes did the right thing and exploited it - plain and simple, it is a competition and he took advantage of the situation. Probably not the most ethical thing to do, but it was not out-of-bounds.

I think Serra will come back, he is a better coach/motivator than Hughes. Hughes has tons of talent and tons of talk, but I think the 2 got along better than BJ and Jens at this point in the show. At least they were up front and honest without being confrontational with one another.

Now for the REAL stuff. Looks like we have 3 or 4 really talented fighters on the show this go round. I liked Mac, he talked a good game but he got down to business and got the win last night. he was very well composed, although I feel he lacks the skill that he thinks he has. He is very skilled though, I hope Hughes can help him bring his game to the next level. The key thing about this season's match-ups will be that Hughes has some pretty awesome coaches he works with and can bring in and Serra is more of a "hands-on", "do-it-yourselfer". That may bring Serra's team down as the more skilled coaches may be able to get the fighters ready for the earlier fights. We'll see how it turns out.
